Pros / RingCentral allows conference calling.
Cons / This service lacks a world plan and even calls to Puerto Rico cost extra.
Verdict / RingCentral lacks a world plan, an important part of international calling in today's internet-centered world. Though it offers other useful features, it falls short of others in the lineup. It is a good choice if you place international calls, but only rarely.
RingCentral is a business-focused call service provider that covers a range of businesses and provides the tools and call features needed to help your small business. This company has been providing calling services since 2003 both nationally and internationally.
Most international call services provide world plans that allow you to make phone calls to a variety of countries just like you would to numbers in the United States. The best international call services, such as Phone Power or Broadvoice, provide access to at least 60 landlines in the country and mobile phones. As more and more international calling services are operated over the cloud, international calls are easier to make. Unfortunately, RingCentral is not one of the services that offers these unlimited world calling plans. Even Puerto Rico, which most services consider domestic, costs extra. This service stays with the traditional method of charging a per-minute rate based on the country that you call. This outdated method is not ideal for small business owners looking to place international calls on a regular basis.
The user platform for this service is clean cut and straightforward. The icons are clearly labeled. Finding where to place a call and where to view billing or account information is easy. The online portal even has help and support videos on the home page.
This service does provide other valuable features, such as a softphone, conference calling and call transfer.
To reach help and support, you have the option of contacting the company through live chat and email for basic questions. However, once you are a client, it is easiest to receive help over the phone, as most of the live chat and email channels are geared toward sales. Overall, we found the support helpful and supportive, though not as responsive as some of the higher-ranked services.
Overall, we found RingCentral to be a useful service though it doesn't offer the calling plans we were looking for and only offers plans based on rates per minute. If you need to place multiple international calls on a regular basic then RingCentral will not be the best plans for you, but if you only place calls sporadically and don't want to spend money on an international calling plan, RingCentral could be a good choice.
