When you look into DVD copy software, there are various features that you should look for. Many of these features are available in Express Burn from NCH. This product not only has a lot of great features, but also boasts an impressively short copy time. We were also pleased with how easy it was to get started using this DVD cloner. Having an application that doesn't require a manual to copy our first DVD is a big plus.
As you search for the right software to copy your DVDs, you should look for several features. Among the most important features are how much time it takes to complete the copy, the material that can be included, and the output options that are available. With Express Burn you get all of the best features. The time it took for the application to copy a 113-minute movie was merely 20 minutes. This aspect alone can guarantee that you can be more productive with your time. We were also pleased with all of the options available regarding the quality of the image and sound.
This DVD copy application is also useful when it comes to deciding how much material you want included in your copies. It is simple to create a straight copy that includes all of the bonus material and menus. If you don't want to have all of the extras and want to reduce the file size, you can always choose not to have those included when you make the copy. One feature missing from this DVD cloner is the ability to legally decrypt the codes for some commercial DVDs. While this isn't a deal-breaker for some, if you are hoping to back up your entire DVD library, you will likely run into problems with some of your DVDs.
There is a little information available online by way of FAQs, and there's a user forum, but the information there is very basic and doesn't go into enough depth to answer any advanced questions. However, if you do have a particular question about this DVD copy software, there is an online form that you can submit to the company's technical support team. It provides information fairly quickly and was able to answer the questions we had. Overall, we wish the support could have been a little more comprehensive, but because the program is fairly intuitive, we didn't have any problems getting it up and running.
When we tested this DVD copy software, we were pleased with the overall quality. Since there is some choice on the video and audio settings, we were always able to get a good final product. We were also pleased that there is a preview window so that we can watch the DVDs we planned on copying and see what the outcome would be. There were one or two places in the final copy that could have been just a little bit better, but it wasn't anything we were overly worried about.
One of the negative aspects of this DVD copy software is that there is very little help and support. Something that really worried us was the fact that the manual is only available on the application itself. If you have problems running the application in the first place, that could be a problem. We feel it is important to have documentation available on the web as well so you can access information in the event the software has issues. We also wish there were more tutorials and step-by-step instructions on how to use the application.
The interface of this application is clean, making it easy to use. We were pleased that there wasn't an overabundance of icons or text to slog through in order to copy the DVD. This DVD copy software lets you copy files from the DVD itself or from various locations on your hard drive. You can even choose whether you want to bring in individual files or select a folder that has a collection of files. Either way, you can actually merge various files together so they are combined as one movie. This is a useful option if you have short segments you want to combine or movies that you want to group together.
When copying the DVD, there are a couple of presets already built into this DVD copy software that you can work with. These involve more than just copying one DVD to another. This application also works with CDs and Blu-Ray Discs. The only thing you need to make sure of is that the drive you are working with is compatible with the disc you want to use. These presets are easy ways to copy any of the formats with a simple click.
This DVD copy application is easy to install. All you need to do is download the application from the NCH website. Once it is downloaded, you can access the registration option. Until the product is registered it will only function as a demo, so you won't have access to all of the features the DVD cloner has to offer. The registration process is simple: Just input your personal information and enter the codes that are generated when you are finished. The software can only be registered to one computer, so make sure the computer you install it on is the computer that has all the hardware you need.
This DVD copy software boasts lightning-fast burn times. You will be hard-pressed to find another application that can live up to the standards this one sets. On the other side, there are a few features missing – for example, the ability to legally decrypt commercial DVDs. If that doesn't break the deal, this application is a good one to look into, if just for how easy Express Burn is to use and how much time you will be able to save.
