Kohler is known for its very high quality and chic looking Walk-In Bath. Its options and accessories are beautiful but it does come with a higher price tag than most other manufacturers. This is because, on top of providing a sturdy, well-built and custom walk-in tub, Kohler also includes finishes like custom colors and detailed LuxStone bath walls to create a personal and relaxing space.

The tub itself is available up to 60 inches long and has a three-inch step-in, one of the lowest in the industry. It also features skip-resistant floors, handrails and larger doors to make it safer when getting in and out, and during use. The additional safety, hydrotherapy, and comfort features are much higher quality than other companies, but are worth the extra money if you can afford it. Plus, Kohler includes a lifetime warranty with your purchase.

Kohler Walk-in Bath: what you need to know

  • Low step-in
  • Gorgeous finishes
  • Financing available

Kohler only has a single walk-in tub model, the Walk-In Bath, but the customization features are numerous. You can choose from nearly a dozen color combinations that include both the color of the tub and detailed wall designs to create a beautiful, finished bathroom around your tub. Bath walls that surround your tub are made from LuxStone, Kohler’s exclusive natural marble.

Though your Kohler tub will be custom-made for you, every one comes with slip-resistant floors, extra-wide doors, and dual handrails to help minimize slips and falls. You only need to step up about three inches to get into this tub, and the outer rim features a unique grove that you can grip to give you more stability.

You can add one of Kohler's comfort features like the water or air jets, or its BubbleMassage that helps exfoliate your skin while working the tension out of your muscles. Heated seating all the way up to the neck is an added option, as is the multifunctional shower with three water flow settings.

How much will your Kohler Walk-In Bath cost?

  • Requires a certified consultant meeting with you
  • Kohler does include professional installation
  • Lifetime warranty

Kohler doesn’t provide any pricing on its website. It requires a certified consultant meeting with you in your home to conduct a 35-point check of your current bathroom and tub needs.

While we weren’t able to get a quote ourselves, we do know that Kohler’s traditional bathtubs easily cost close to $2,000, so you can expect its walk-in tub to come in at least three times that. Kohler does include professional installation and a lifetime warranty in its price quote, and quotes are good for a full year.

This company is the only one we evaluated that offers direct financing. While specifics aren’t spelled out on its website, it’s good to know there is an option for purchasing a walk-in tub that doesn’t require paying the full cost upfront. Kohler also puts on special offers fairly often, which help drop the overall cost of your tub.

Additional points consider before buying

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Shower head lacks counterweight

One complaint we’ve heard about the Kohler Walk-In Bath, is that the retractable shower head doesn’t have a counterweight on it. This means when you let go of the shower head, it doesn’t snap back into place. Instead, you will need to re-feed the line back into the tub in order to put it back in its rightful place.

The only other con is that the Kohler tub isn’t designed for wheelchair accessibility. If you need one of these for your bathroom, we suggest checking out AmeriGlide. It has the best selection of wheelchair-accessible walk-in bathtubs.

What users say about a Kohler Walk-In Tub

  • Some of the best customer feedback available
  • Customers praise quality
  • Installation can be quick

Kohler has the highest rating and customer feedback out of all the other walk-in tub companies we've reviewed. Nearly every customer praised the service and overall quality of their tub, and the finish of the bath walls, that creates a personal, spa-like feel in their home. Installers tend to give a two or three-day estimate for installing the tub, but the majority of consumers reported that installation took only a single day.

Kohler Walk-In Tub: Verdict

Though it is pricey, the final look, feel and quality of the Kohler Walk-In Bath is worth it. You choose between several bathtub and marble bath wall finishes, which includes color options, to make a personalized and relaxing space.

It comes standard with extra handrails, a wide doorway, and non-slip floors, but also features a unique outer rim grip to keep you stable both in and out of this tub.
