The BlueAnatomy Wireless Body Scale can measure your weight, fat, body mass index, muscle, body water and bone mass. This bathroom scale is unusual because although it is a smart scale, it does not need a computer or Wi-Fi in order to function. Instead, this Bluetooth-enabled digital scale communicates with your mobile device directly and automatically uploads your health information. The missing customer support options hold this scale back, however.
This electronic bathroom scale can handle up to 396 pounds, which is fairly normal for a smart scale. However, some of the competing scales on our lineup can measure a bit over 400 pounds. This scale also has the remarkable feature of allowing unlimited users to create profiles. As you begin to shed pounds, graphs on your phone or mobile device show your progression toward your ideal weight. You have the option of choosing a goal weight and the date by which you would like to achieve that goal.
We like that this scale uses Bluetooth capabilities to sync to your mobile device, and we found that it was much easier to set up via Bluetooth than the other scales that required Wi-Fi. However, it did seem to be a problem to have multiple Bluetooth devices in the same area when trying to set up the scale and pair it to a mobile device. Additionally, when trying to pair the scale with a phone, we found that we had to have the phone in our hand and near the scale, or it wouldn’t pair.
During our testing we found that this unit wasn’t one of the most accurate bathroom scales on our lineup, although it was fairly accurate overall. When the same person stepped onto the scale multiple times only seconds apart, the scale sometimes registered inconsistent weights. It occasionally could not come up with any measurement for various body stats such as body fat, body mass index and even weight.
You and other users can store the data you get from this digital bathroom scale either online or on compatible mobile devices, and you get free cloud storage with this scale. You can send your information to fitness experts such as your doctor or a personal coach if you choose.
This scale works with Apple products and select Android devices. The Apple devices it is compatible with are the iPhone 3G and higher, iPod touch 2 and higher, and iPad first generation and higher. The scale communicates with select Android devices as well. You can confirm if it works on your device by downloading the app from the Google Play store. One of the biggest downsides is that this scale does not sync with third-party apps like Apple's HealthKit or MyFitnessPal. If you want a scale that can sync to third-party apps, consider the Weight Gurus scale.
This scale comes in black or white. Both have attractive styling – a raised silver square on the top features the BlueAnatomy logo. The large display is easy to read. The scale has compact dimensions that help you slip it into your bathroom without disrupting the flow of the room. It weighs a little over 4 pounds, so you can move it with ease.
For support options, the scale comes with a one-year warranty, a product manual, a FAQs page and email support. You can also access BlueAnatomy’s blog on its website and stay up to date on health and fitness topics. However, you do not have access to community forums to discuss health issues, and the lack of phone support is a significant limitation.
As one of the top 10 bathroom scales, the BlueAnatomy Wireless Body Scale provides fairly accurate and consistent weighing capabilities, but it’s not the most accurate bathroom scale available. This scale offers basic but helpful weight loss features to assist you in getting to your goal weight. However, its customer support is lacking some options that the best bathroom scales offer, and its consistency issues are a drawback.
