Adobe is doing its part to help students during the coronavirus outbreak by offering free access to the Creative Cloud suite of apps including Photoshop and InDesign. This means that students who are unable to attend classes due to university closures will still be able to create and study using these apps, so long as they have one of the best home computers to run them on. This is a temporary offer from Adobe, with the temporary free licenses lasting until May 2020, though it may end up extending this free period depending on how the global battle against the coronavirus proceeds.

There are some terms and conditions that come with this offer though. To get access to the free Adobe Creative Cloud apps, you need to be a student at a college or university that is already signed up to Adobe as an education customer. If this applies to you then you will still need to jump through some hoops to get your access sorted out. There is an application form on the Adobe website, but it has to be filled out by an IT admin at your college or university.

While the implementation is a little clunky, this is a welcome move from Adobe and it will hopefully help thousands of students to self-isolate and continue their studies without too much disruption. If you are a student who is considering working from home, or if your institute has announced that it will be closing then it might be worth forwarding this information on to your IT administrator to make sure they’re aware of this offer from Adobe.

In the meantime, there are some other steps you can take to make sure you’re prepared to work or study from home should you be forced to self-isolate in the coming months. Make sure that you’ve got a solid internet connection from the best internet providers. You should also make sure that you can keep in contact with your friends and colleagues using the best smartphones and best cell phone providers.

Stay safe out there and be sure to keep up with all the latest news on the coronavirus pandemic.
