Naomi MacKay has been a freelance writer and editor for the past 20 years. She previously made the move from local newspapers and consumer technology magazines into the gardening press as Assistant Editor at Garden Answers magazine, and has also worked for the Royal Horticultural Society, and writes garden columns for a number of publications.

During her 30 years as a journalist, she has tried everything from flying lessons and acupuncture to firefighter training and ‘flying’ in the theater in the name of writing a feature. She has also reviewed everything from smartphones, digital cameras and electric scooters to robot mowers and watering cans. Her writing work has taken her to gardens and garden shows around the UK, including the world-renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show. She loves to travel and has been lucky enough to go on some very special press trips - the most memorable a safari in Botswana, which included camping in the bush and luxury safari lodge stays.

In her spare time you’ll find her singing in her local choir, or researching for her upcoming book on historic gardens to visit in the UK. Alternatively, she’ll be driving around her teenager and counting down the days until he can get his own license.
