Black Friday refrigerator deals FAQs

Are appliances cheaper on Black Friday?

Yes, appliances are cheaper on Black Friday. In previous years, Black Friday appliance deals were only available on Black Friday itself and perhaps the surrounding weekend. However, now you can find cheaper appliances in the weeks on either side of Black Friday and amid this year’s coronavirus pandemic, retailers are offering competitive Black Friday refrigerator deals throughout November as many shoppers will be buying online instead of in person. Other appliances are also discounted.

What is the best month to buy a refrigerator?

Many people buy a new refrigerator when their old one breaks, however, if you think your refrigerator is on its last legs, November is a fantastic time to buy a refrigerator if you want to get more for your money. Buying a refrigerator with Black Friday deals means that even if you have a strict budget, you might be able to afford something that was previously way over budget due to heavy discounts.

Where can I get the best deal on appliances?

Many of the big retailers such as Lowe’s, Sears, Best Buy, Home Depot, and more will be offering Black Friday appliance deals. As well as that, brands themselves will be offering deals via their own websites. Prices do vary from site to site, though, so if you want to find the best refrigerator deals quickly, bookmark this page as we’ll be doing all the research for you.

What makes a good Black Friday refrigerator deal?

It’s pretty well known that refrigerators can be a pretty pricey investment which is probably why you’re on the lookout for the best Black Friday refrigerator deals.

To help you recognize what’s a good deal and what isn’t, it’s worth knowing how much you can expect to pay for each type of refrigerator when they’re not on sale.

French door refrigerators certainly don’t come cheap, premium models that offer helpful features like smartphone compatibility will set you back up to $3,000. Budget French door refrigerators are normally priced around the $1,000 mark.

Side-by-side refrigerators are also hard to come by for less than $1,000 and are normally around the $1,600 to $2,000 mark, depending on the specification, brand, and features you choose.

For all types of refrigerators, Energy Star-rated models will save you money in the long run, but the initial price may be higher due to the extra lengths the manufacturer has to go to to create a model that’s compliant.

When you’re looking at Black Friday refrigerator deals, you can expect as much as 40% off some fantastic brand models. As well as the price, take note of the features that each refrigerator offers, as well as how long the warranty is valid for so that you’ll have added peace of mind.

How to find the best Black Friday refrigerator deals

Knowing how to spot the best Black Friday refrigerator deals is key if you don’t want to spend more than you have to. Set a budget and then consider whether you’ll be looking for counter-depth refrigerators or standard-sized models.

A counter-depth refrigerator looks flush with your kitchen cabinets as it won’t stick out any further, but you will also lose a little internal fridge space. If you need lots of refrigerator space, opt for a standard-sized refrigerator and look out for flexible internal storage solutions too.

You might find that your dream fridge is among one of the best Black Friday refrigerator sales, so buying something previously out of your price range might now be an option. If smart refrigerators are what you’d like, then Black Friday is a great opportunity to save big on these, normally pricey, refrigerators.

Top freezer refrigerators vs Side-by-side and French door refrigerators: Which is best?

There are loads of different types of refrigerators out there, but really, what’s the difference between each and which is the best?

We’ll start with top freezer refrigerators. As the name suggests, these refrigerators have a freezer compartment at the top of the model and the bottom half of the appliance is fridge space.

The best top freezer refrigerators still offer an impressive capacity and they are much more affordable than some high-end side-by-side and French door models. The freezer compartment is conveniently at eye level so you can see exactly what you’ve got, but parts of the refrigerator will be much lower than eye level and you might find food items get forgotten at the back of these types of fridges.

Top freezer refrigerators are available in white but more and more brands are now coating their refrigerators in stainless steel, black, or alternative finishes for a modern and stylish look.

When it comes to defrosting, top freezer refrigerators are a bit difficult as you’ll have melting ice and water dripping down your appliance - which is not ideal. But, since defrosting your freezer compartment isn’t something you’ll be doing all that often, top freezer refrigerators are still well worth considering.

Both side-by-side refrigerators and French door refrigerators will set you back more than $1000, so they’re nearly always more expensive than top freezer refrigerators. What you do get for your money, however, is a larger capacity, high-end finishes, and often water and ice dispensers in the door too.

Side-by-side refrigerators offer really impressive capacities for both the freezer compartment and the fridge side, and they often have ice dispensers on the outside which don’t impact the internal space of the refrigerator.

Side-by-side refrigerators do have their downsides though. The first is that these models aren’t great for storing wide items - even things like frozen pizzas or large dutch ovens with leftovers in might be a push. The second is that all of your food isn’t at eye level.

Finally, French door refrigerators offer the wide shelving and eye level convenience that side-by-side refrigerators don’t, however, they are pricey. This type of refrigerator normally has fancy features which can mean more issues down the line too.

Refrigerator Black Friday deals in 2020: what we expect to see

Last year, we saw fantastic Black Friday refrigerator deals from huge brands including Lowe’s, Home Depot, and more.

We saw discounts of $1,000 dollars on premium LG French door refrigerators. Home Depot slashed as much as 40% off refrigerators from Frigidaire, GE, and LG, which many premium refrigerators available for under $1,000 and mid-range models available for under $600.

The 2020 Black Friday refrigerator deals we’re expecting to see are equally appealing deals from huge refrigerator brands, especially on 30-inch refrigerators and top-freezer models. There may well be deals on smart refrigerators too, but we’re expecting the biggest discounts to be across mid-range to premium refrigerators where you’ll get excellent value for money.
