The nutritional analysis for Shop'NCook Menu to be one of its strongest selling points of this cookbook software. The recipe wizard can recognize your ingredients and create a nutritional analysis based on information provided by the USDA, so you can get a good idea of how healthy a particular dish is. This is especially useful if you (or people you cook for) have special dietary needs, or if you’re looking to reduce something in your overall eating plan, such as sodium or sugar, or add more of another nutrient such as potassium.

Shop’NCook Menu is the most basic of several products offered by Rufenacht Innovative, but its tools let you import, organize and edit recipes, create grocery lists and scale recipes to suit the number of people you are feeding.

The recipe manager of Shop'NCook Menu is impressive, mostly because you can import recipes easily. You also get access a database of more than 70,000 recipes, which is an impressive number. Only one program we tested comes with more: Now You're Cooking! 5.94. You can also quickly create your own recipes manually through the program or by copying and pasting information. In addition, you can get sub-recipes or recipes-within-recipes, such as a Japanese meal with a separate recipe for cooked rice, and the software will give you the nutritional content for the entire meal as well as for the rice alone.

This cookbook and recipe software allows you to organize your recipes and create a grocery list that plots your grocery items by aisle, which is a convenient time-saver. If you like to plan ahead you're really going to enjoy this feature. The smartphone app is another useful tool if you don't want to be tethered to your home computer or laptop. In fact, several recipe programs we tested have an app, including MasterCook 15 and Cook'n.

If you run into any issues with Shop'NCook, you can contact the developers through an email form. Unfortunately, there is no phone support, so there’s no way to get a question answered faster than the speed of an email reply. The website includes several helpful video tutorials that show you how to perform certain functions step by step. You can try the program out for 45 days before making a final purchase.

Shop'NCook Menu is an effective cookbook program that does a great job of storing your favorite recipes, creating grocery lists and helping you access important nutritional information so you can eat healthier. This program has an impressive number of preloaded recipes and gives you access to thousands more.
