As coronavirus social distancing measures increase, many of us are thinking about how to stay healthy at home. For some of us that might be figuring out how to transition our workouts to a home gym setup, while others might be starting a new exercise routine from scratch. In response to the current health crisis, Fitbit wants to help beginners and pros by extending the free trial period of its subscription-based online fitness and health classes.
Fitbit, which makes some of the world’s best fitness trackers, has now extended the free trial of Fitbit Premium to 90-days. What is Fitbit Premium? In a nutshell it uses data captured by your Fitbit device to deliver personalized coaching to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.
It also includes a multitude of workouts and wellbeing programs, from running and yoga to body strength training, H.I.I.T. (high intensity interval training) and sleep hygiene. These include workouts from fitness brands including barre3, Daily Burn and Yoga Studio by Gaiam. The company has also added 40 new pieces of Premium content for free in the Fitbit app.
All of the workouts are available to be streamed via the Fitbit app on your smartphone or computer, as well as your Fitbit tracker or watch – the Fitbit Versa is among our top picks – and the workouts can be accessed 24/7 to fit in with your unique daily schedule.
James Park, Fitbit’s co-founder, wrote in a recent Fitbit blog covering how to stay healthy during this time: "Given the current circumstances, we know how hard it is to focus on your health and wellness. But staying active, eating nutritious foods, sleeping well, and managing stress are critical to boosting your immunity and your mood. To help support you, we’re offering 40 new pieces of Premium content free in the Fitbit app".
"If Premium isn’t available in your region, and you haven’t tried Fitbit Coach yet, we’re offering a 90-day free trial, so you can stream video workouts on your phone or computer," Park writes.
