Any Screen Capture is easy to use and offers a set of modest features, standard tools and basic functions, so you can take screenshots, capture images and edit them. It's not of the most advanced or feature-full screen capture software, but it offers midrange quality and usability.

You don't have to be a computer guru to learn how to use Any Screen Capture quickly. There are multiple ways to capture screenshots, including through icons in the toolbar, a pull-down menu and hotkeys. You can capture entire screens, active windows, menus, single windows, applications and video games. The application's scrolling capture can create images of entire documents and websites that you typically have to scroll to view.

This screen recording software is not fancy. Its user console is bland and antiquated, but the features and toolbar handle many projects. The image capture tool tells you the pixel size of images as you capture them, and the selected area appears highlighted, so you can easily see the image and its surroundings. You can take screenshots in different shapes, including rectangles, ellipses, circles, polygons and freehand.

This screenshot software lets you add lines, text and color, and it allows you to edit images. It lacks special effects such as page tears, fade outs, shadows and frames. The program also can’t capture videos, and there is no timer feature to schedule screenshots, something the best screen recorders have. It does not offer an FTP tool or let you import images from a digital camera or scanner, nor is there a function to convert multiple files in a batch.

One of the things this software lacks that’s found in the best screen capture software is the ability to capture videos. And even though programs that have this only give you a limited amount of editing tools, it’s still a handy tool to have and a major omission for this software.

Any Screen Capture has a help menu in the application at the top of the toolbar. It offers a basic introduction and thorough instructions on how to use the application. There is a FAQs section on the website, and you can email support if you have questions or problems. This product does not provide tutorials or phone support, but it does include a 30-day trial period. This allows you to get used to the software and decide whether or not it has the tools you need for the projects you work on.

Any Screen Capture is a lower-level application in terms of functionality and features. It's easy to use with a handy toolbar, though the interface is antiquated. It lacks some features, such as video capture and special effects. Still, it can handle most basic screen capture needs, and you have a 30-day trial period to decide if it is right for you.
