Globat is a decent web hosting provider that’s ideal for the green user. The service’s features and interface are user-friendly and extremely easy to grasp. While Globat provides all of the basic features necessary for web hosting, its overall functionality is watered down and comes at the cost of ease of use.
The company’s GX01 plan provides unlimited disk space, mailboxes and bandwidth. Unlimited disk space means your site can be as large and consist of as many pages as you want, while unlimited bandwidth ensures your site loads quickly, regardless of how many visitors it has. The package also includes one free domain registration or transfer, and you can host unlimited domains under your account. It is disappointing that the service doesn’t support international domains or subdomains, and it caps MySQL databases at 50.
With this web host, you get all the hosting fundamentals such as a control panel, site builder and file manager to conveniently manage all the files you upload to your website. If you have an eCommerce site, you have access to shopping carts and a shared SSL certificate. Still, Globat lacks many of the features that appeal to users with web hosting experience. For instance, you cannot create custom cron jobs. It also doesn’t provide a free script library where you can access premade scripts to install on your site. Furthermore, the site stats provided are very basic, providing limited information on your site’s traffic.
This shared hosting service has most of the features that you need to create a workable site, yet the usability is hurt because of how difficult it is to create an account. Globat is under the wide umbrella of Endurance International Group, and each of the sister hosts we tested gave us the same obstacles in creating an account. For instance, our payment didn't immediately go through. We had to reach its support staff and wait nearly an hour to create a simple hosting account. Even then, the host was verified well before the domain was approved.
Globat’s technical support resources are impressive. On the Globat website, there are dozens of video tutorials, which are useful because they show you exactly how to execute a certain task or fully utilize a particular feature. In addition to the tutorials, there’s a FAQs section that proves invaluable to those who are new to website hosting.
While the service’s hosting package has a few noticeable drawbacks and its feature set seems incomplete, Globat’s exceptional price, reliable customer support and unlimited offerings make it a good choice for those with basic hosting needs. Even with a few flaws in terms of account setup, it's far above average and almost cracks into our top 10 web hosting services.
