PROS / It can play any digital video format, including 4K, losslessly.
CONS / It has no playback smoothing ability.
VERDICT / It is missing many convenient features, but its quick load time and HD and 4K playback make it strong for basic player software.
If your movie library encompasses a wide variety of video formats, the Aiseesoft Blu-ray Player software can help you watch all of it in one central location. It is missing features and functionality here and there, but it does let you tweak picture and audio settings for a crystal-clear movie experience. Various customer support options and multi-platform compatibility make this a decent choice for a simple player.
This movie player software works with any recent Windows or Mac OS X versions, including 10 and El Capitan, respectively. However, it doesn't have as much compatibility with what video formats it can play. It can play a massive variety of digital video formats, but when it comes to physical discs, it can only play DVDs and Blu-ray discs – no rewritable discs.
We were moderately impressed with the digital video player's performance. It loaded videos fairly quickly, and the playback looked terrific, with no lag or buffering. The software could be slightly more intuitive, but it is generally easy to navigate and use. During our testing, with no other computer programs running, it played videos using an average of 44 percent CPU consumption, which feels like a lot when you're trying to multitask.
It has Dolby and DTS audio support, giving you high audio quality. The lossless audio playback helps maintain the quality even when you use headphones or an HDMI cable. The auto-resume playback is a function that remembers where you leave off in a video and automatically starts playing from that point once you turn it back on.
With the click of a button, you can share what you're currently watching with friends on social media sites like Twitter. For added personalization, you can customize the player skin. You can enjoy videos from around the world, as this player allows you to change regions. A subtitles function helps you enjoy movies in different languages or with unclear dialogue.
Despite offering a few simple features, this software is missing several larger and more popular ones that you can find in other applications on our lineup. It does not have a power manager to conserve laptop battery life, nor does it have smart display stretching or an HD upscaling ability.
Aiseesoft has many ways to address questions or concerns you have about the DVD player software, including a friendly customer service team that is quick to respond to emails. If you prefer to answer your questions with an indirect method, you can access the FAQs portion of its website or watch its product tutorials. The software also offers some free upgrades.
The Aiseesoft Blu-ray Player software does a decent job of playing most video formats. The software, for the most part, performs well and is relatively simple to use. While it is a bit of a CPU hog and lacks some useful features, such as a power manager, it still provides quick video loading and quality audio support for a convenient movie-watching experience.
