Bosch Tronic 3000 Mini-Tank Electric Water Heater: What is it?

The Bosch Mini-Tank is exactly what it says on the tin - a small electric water heater that’s designed to be used at the point-of-use. This unit can be mounted on the wall or neatly fitted underneath a sink.

Ideal for providing hot water in just one area, this electric water heater comes with a two-year warranty on the parts and a six-year warranty on the tank itself.

The Bosch Tronic Mini-Tank Electric Water Heater is available in three sizes: 2.5 gallons, 4 gallons and 7 gallons, however, we’ve focused on the 4 gallon tank. The water heater can be used alone at a sink or can be combined with a bigger water heating source.

Bosch Tronic 3000 Mini-Tank Electric Water Heater: Design & features

This water heater may be small but it is well thought out. Its tank is glass lined so that it lasts as long as possible. It’s also insulated with CFC-free foam which makes it more energy efficient and boasts 98% thermal efficiency.

The small tank however, does mean you’ll only really get enough water for a sink, or a tiny washing machine, but definitely not at the same time. Ideal for use in just one area, this water heater is not a substitute for a larger water heater designed to heat bathrooms throughout a home. It simply would not cope to provide hot water for shower after shower or large washing machines.

With quite a simple and attractive design, this water heater will easily fit in with your home and not take up anywhere near as much room as a standard water heater.

A fast recovery rate also means you won’t have big gaps between drawing hot water. The Bosch water heater has three optional uses. One is that this heater can be used to support another water heater, the second is it can be used independently at a sink, and the third is it can act as a buffer for tankless water heaters.

Bosch has a great reputation for quality-built products so you can rest assured that this point-of-use water heater is a good purchase if it suits your needs.

Bosch Tronic 3000 Mini-Tank Electric Water Heater: User reviews

Many reviews mention that this water heater is suitable for a single shower, small washing machine and an RV camper shower, although it’s worth considering the duration of showers and washing cycles so that you don’t run out of hot water.

Other reviews commented on how good the quality of the tank is and that it’s an ideal solution when your main hot water heater is a long way from your sinks. Some reviews did mention issues with leaks fairly soon after purchase.

Should you buy the Bosch Tronic 3000 Mini-Tank Electric Water Heater?

If you need a large water heater to provide water for your whole home, this certainly isn’t it but that’s not what it’s designed to be either. This water heater is ideal for providing small amounts of hot water for a sink or very short shower. Its design it sleek and the fact that it can easily wall-mounted or hidden under a sink, is a real bonus.
