Desktop Publisher supports a very limited selection of image formats: wmf (Windows meta file), emf (enhanced meta file), bmp (Windows bitmap) and dib (device independent bitmap).
When you're working with text, again you're extremely limited as to the effects and styles you can create. You can add background based on color or lines and borders to your text.
For just a few more dollars you can at least purchase desktop publishing software programs like Print Shop Essentials or Print Workshop that supply templates and have better tools for working with text and images.
