The HoMedics Percussion Pro is one of the world's best handheld massagers for combining heat and pressure relief, delivering a thoroughly relaxing and tension-relieving massage at home. The massager comes with two sets of interchangeable heads, with which you can customize the intensity of massage depending on what you need.

The long, ergonomic handle is easy to grip, and that's welcome because the massager is quite bulky overall, especially compared to something more compact and user-friendly like the Therabody Theragun Mini. HoMedics is a big brand in the world of wellness products, and is behind some of the world's best back massagers and foot massagers too, so you know you're buying into quality here.

HoMedics Percussion Pro Massager With Heat review: design

The HoMedics Percussion Pro massager is designed to work various areas of your body, including your neck and shoulders, thighs and back. It weighs 2lbs and sports a long handle for better maneuverability, so you can hold it down the middle of your back for self-massage.

The massager comes with interchangeable heads, which you can twist off in seconds to enjoy a different type of massage experience. The dark grey heads are designed for a gentler, more relaxing massage, while the light grey heads are designed for a much firmer, deeper reaching massage.

The Percussion Pro comes uses dual pressure settings to give you enhanced control, and enable you to tailor your massage strength/force. That's because, on certain body parts, you need to be careful when using the higher pressure functions. The high-speed setting generates up to 3,100 beats per minute, and you can slide the speed switch as needed. The massager even allows you to change your settings while the device runs, so you can alter the feel as you use it on a target area.

The other exciting feature is heat, which doubles down on the therapeutic offering of this body massager.

HoMedics Percussion Pro Massager With Heat review: performance

The HoMedics Percussion Pro Massager fun starts with a head that pivots and rapidly strikes the surface of the skin to create a lightly percussive, pummeling effect. When you need a gentle massage, choose one of the softer heads to sit on the 'striking pad'. You can adjust the impact speed to one of the softer settings and enjoy a lighter touch or general relaxation.

Need a firmer massage? The light grey heads have much less give/flexibility and so deliver a stronger, more powerful massaging effect. These harder attachments and higher-impact settings turn the Percussion Pro into an effective therapeutic aid, which impacts deeper muscle groups in all sorts of situations.

Because this handheld massager generates so much percussive power, you need a firm grip on the device for optimal performance. The HoMedics massager also lets you add heat to the experience, to combine percussive massage with soothing heat therapy. The heat button can be pressed anytime while the massager is in action, so you can add in heat in short bursts as required.

The downside to the Percussion Pro Massager With Heat is that it requires a corded connection for power, so you won't be able to move too far from a mains connection when using it. The cord is long enough for freedom of use, but not to the level you'd enjoy with a wireless handheld massager like the Brookstone Max 2 Node Percussion Massager.

Should I buy the HoMedics Percussion Pro Massager With Heat?

The HoMedics Percussion Pro With Heat is an affordable handheld massager that gives you several ways to customize your at-home massage experience. The variety of massage speeds and the interchangeable heads provide ample variety when it comes to experiencing a range of firm or relaxing massages, and on different areas of your body too.

While we would prefer a cordless design to aid freedom of movement during massage, the cord is a decent length so it shouldn't hamper you too much.

There are far more powerful body massagers available now, mostly inspired by the Therabody range of Theragun percussive massagers, but those sit in the top-end part of the price spectrum. If you want a cheaper massager that uses heat and percussive therapy to relieve muscle soreness and built-up tension, the HoMedics Percussion Pro With Heat is perfectly adequate.
