Carrying the highly thought of Polaris name, the Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle has the backing of a brand that’s popular in the world of pool cleaners.
The American-based brand, Polaris, has been running for more than 40 years and is known for its high-performance pool cleaners.
This above ground pool cleaner is one of the cheapest gadgets in our guide to the best pool cleaners (opens in new tab). But it’s also one of the most colorful and family-friendly. This pool cleaner only works if you have an above ground pool and it must be no more than five feet deep.
Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle: Features
One of the first things you’ll notice about the Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle is its fun design feature. In fact, Polaris describes it as a ‘happy combination’ of a pool cleaner that’s automatic and elements that are there for decoration.
It has a patented ‘jet assembly’. This jet assembly is there to help loosen debris found in difficult places such as the pool sides or corners. Its filter bag, which sweeps the floor of the pool, is detachable. Meaning once the cleaner has done its job, you can remove the filter bag, empty it and reattach it ready for its next clean.
Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle: Design
The Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris is one of the most family-friendly above ground pool cleaners thanks to its green and blue turtle-shaped design.
It works by vacuuming and sweeping the pool floor, whilst removing dirt at the sides of the above ground pool at the same time. It does this through its patented jet sweep which blows water into the pool wall to help loosen any dirt, debris, and algae. It then sweeps this into its filter bag.
The friendly turtle is powered by the pressure of clean water heading back into your pool. This is common with most pumps and filtration systems found with these above ground pools.
Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle: Performance
The Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle is ideal for above ground pools no deeper than five feet. According to the brand’s website, the Turbo Turtle can leave pools looking super clean in three hours or less. Of course, this will depend on how big your pool is and how debris-ridden it is too. If you have a larger pool, we’d recommend checking out the Polaris Vac-Sweep 3900 Sport review (opens in new tab).
There are just three steps to get the Polaris working with maximum results. This includes: installing the universal wall fitting, adjusting the sweep hose to make sure it fits the pool depth, and configuring the float hose to fit the length of your pool.
Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle: User reviews
The Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle has received a total of 3.9 stars out of five on Amazon.
Buyers of the Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle praised the quirky design for being easy to clean and doing an ‘excellent’ job of cleaning the bottom and sides of their above ground pools. One user stated that this was the second Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle that they had bought after their first one took 10 years to wear out. Once it finally did, and they bought another one and the Turbo Turtle left their pool looking spotless.
However, it lost stars with users for ‘getting tangled’ in its own hose, only cleaning 50% of the pool and its ‘random wander’ action. But the same user who claimed it had a ‘random wander’ action stated that when it ‘occasionally’ works the way it should do, it does a great job of clearing all the leaves off the bottom of the pool floor. Whilst another user reinstated this point, but claimed it can’t be relied upon to clean the whole pool ‘without some supervision and guidance’.
Should you buy the Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle?
Just as its design and name suggest, the Zodiac 6-130-00T Polaris Turbo Turtle is a fun and easy device to help clean your pool with ease. It might not come with all the fancy design devices other above ground pool cleaners come with, but it also isn’t nearly as expensive.
However, it is worth bearing in mind that the Polaris Turbo Turtle will need some guidance. As seen in the user reviews, some users claimed the device gets caught in its own tangled hose and only cleans one section of the pool. But if you move it to the area that needs cleaning, it should rid your pool of waste. For the price, you can’t knock it.
