Editor's Note: This review has been removed from our side-by-side comparison because it no longer ranks as a top 10 product. The original review is below, but check out our current top small business phone systems here.

AT&T Synapse

AT&T Synapse is an on-premise phone system for a small business. This system will work for businesses with one to 100 users, and it provides a large feature set filled with many basic and advanced calling tools. Synapse provides a handful of hardware options to ensure that you find the perfect phone to help you accomplish your company’s daily work. However, this office phone system does lack a few features that you will find in several similar services, which is why it did not rank higher on our lineup.

This small-business phone system can handle up to 100 users. This should be a more-than-adequate number of phones for a small business, but if you have plans to expand your company, the limit may be a drawback. Synapse also provides conferencing capabilities and unified messaging tools, which allows you to receive voicemails through your email inbox. However, this system does not include any type of instant-messaging capabilities that would allow your employees to communicate quickly. Such a tool would be handy for when employees need information and don't want to place a customer on hold.

AT&T Synapse provides all of your basic calling features. Call transfers, an auto-attendant and customizable hold and voicemail recordings are all included with this office phone solution. Additionally, a handful of IP and DECT phone models are available. However, there are no compatible softphones.

AT&T includes a two-year warranty with all of its phone products. We are pleased with this warranty, as many providers only offer a one-year warranty. If you wish to speak directly with an AT&T Synapse representative, email, telephone and live chat options are available on the company website. There are also a handful of online resources to assist you. These include tech guides, product information sheets and a video gallery. However, we could not find a blog or FAQs as additional resources.

Summary

AT&T Synapse has all of the basic and a handful of advanced features. This solution can handle up to 100 users, and a selection of phones are available to ensure your company has the ideal device for your business. We are also impressed with the warranty included on these products. However, there are a few drawbacks to this system, such as the lack of instant-messaging capabilities or softphones. Nonetheless, this system has plenty to ensure you have the tools and the resources you need to easily communicate with your customers.
