PROS / This scale has a tempered glass weighing area and a highly accurate sensor.
CONS / It can’t weigh in fluid ounces.
VERDICT / The MIRA is a durable, accurate and stylish scale that fits well in most kitchens.
The MIRA Digital Kitchen Scale is a medium-sized digital food scale that has a lot to recommend it. It’s lightweight, yields accurate and consistent results and is quite easy to clean and store. It earned a well-deserved spot in our review of the best food scales for its sleek design, simplicity and accuracy.
This food scale can weigh items as light as 0.1 ounces and as heavy as 11 pounds. This range is typical of the food scales on our side-by-side comparison chart. Also typical is its Tare function, which allows you to zero out the weight of a container and weigh only its contents. But on this scale the Tare feature is labeled “Zero” and uses the same button as the on/off switch.
You have the ability to weigh food items in grams, milliliters, ounces and pounds. These are the most common units of measure found in recipes, so the scale should fit most of your needs unless you have a recipe that calls for kilograms or fluid ounces. This food scale also allows you to switch unit measurements while items are still on the scale. This way if you ever need dual measurements you can get them during a single weigh.
The weighing area of this kitchen scale is 42 square inches, which is more than enough room to weigh all the ingredients that will go into average home meals. This is a very accurate and consistent scale. It earned a perfect score in our accuracy tests. This is likely due to its tempered-glass weighing surface and its highly sensitive accuracy sensor. The glass surface is also extremely easy to clean after use. Food and liquid come right up, and since the weighing surface is slightly wider than the rest of the scale, there’s little chance of gunk getting into the scale’s innards.
The MIRA Digital Kitchen scale is stylish, accurate and an all-around great tool for your kitchen. It will weigh your meal ingredients in the most common measurement units and even perform conversions between them. It’s easy to store and clean. The only thing we would like to see improved is the addition of more measurement units, specifically fluid ounces to allow users to weigh liquids as easily as they weigh solids.
