Pros / This Keystone dehumidifier removes 70 pints of moisture from a 3,800-square-foot area.
Cons / The water-collection reservoir only holds 10 pints of water, which means it needs to be emptied often. It's also heavy and large, which won't work in smaller-size rooms.
Verdict / The Keystone KSTAD70B dehumidifier removes moisture from your home quickly and effectively with very little maintenance, and it offers a continuous drainage option.

Efficiency & Energy Use
Within 24 hours, this dehumidifier can remove up to 70 pints of moisture from the air. It can dehumidify up to 3,800 square feet, one of the largest spaces of any of the dehumidifiers we reviewed, only the Danby DDR070BDWDB covers a larger area. This makes the Keystone KSTAD70B a good choice if you are looking for a dehumidifier for your entire home. It also works well in a basement, workshop or garage.
However, one oddity with this otherwise excellent dehumidifier is that the water-collection reservoir only holds 10.4 pints. (This was the smallest-capacity bucket of the dehumidifiers we reviewed.) However, a smaller-size bucket is easier to empty than large-capacity buckets that weigh significantly more.
While the water-collection reservoir is smaller, the Keystone allows for continual water drainage, which means you can bypass emptying the bucket altogether. You can simply attach a garden hose to the drain spout and arrange the hose so it empties into a nearby floor drain.
This dehumidifier comes with a standard two-speed fan. On the low setting, the unit is quiet, although on that setting, it takes longer to remove humidity. The higher setting is noisier but not overly so compared to other models we reviewed that were much noisier. Its sound level measures 53.3 decibels (on the high setting), which is comparable to the sound a dishwasher emits. The low fan setting is even quieter.
Comfort & Safety
In addition to the standard features most dehumidifiers have, the Keystone KSYAD70B features a built-in settings memory. If your power goes out, the dehumidifier returns to the previous setting you programed prior to power loss. There is also a Clean Filter alert so you can maintain clean air quality in your home.
It comes with automatic features that let the machine regulate humidity levels even when you are not at home. Auto restart turns the dehumidifier back on after a power outage. It remembers the humidistat's programmed levels, so you don't have to readjust the control settings when the power comes back on.
The dehumidifier's auto shut-off turns the machine off once the relative humidity in your home reaches the setting entered on the unit's humidistat. This features saves you on both energy use and electric bills. The auto defrost capability lets you use this unit in garages, basements and other unheated areas. It kicks on when temperatures dip and there's a risk of ice building up on the machine.
Another great feature is the 24-hour timer. This feature lets you set multiple timers for when the dehumidifier automatically starts and shut off throughout the day. This is helpful so you can set the unit to come on during the most humid times of the day and turn off when humidity levels are lower.
Design & Dimensions
This model has a digital display on top of the unit that lets you dial in the level of humidity in your home in five percent increments. It also includes a 24-hour timer, allowing you to better control when and how long the device runs.
This Keystone dehumidifier is both large and heavy. The unit weight 40 pounds, but comes with four durable casters. It had wide dimensions, measuring 11.3 inches deep, 15.5 inches wide and 23.3 inches high. Because of its size, it may be difficult to store it in smaller rooms.
This whole house dehumidifier uses 720 watts when operating. While this is standard for a dehumidifier of this size, there are comparable units that uses far less and are Energy Star certified.
Warranties & Support
Keystone offers a one-year parts and labor warranty. You also get a five-year warranty covering the sealed system, which is helpful, since the sealed system is the most expensive part of a dehumidifier to replace.
The Keystone KSTAD70B dehumidifier is designed for comfort and convenience. It pulls 70 pints of moisture from a 3,800-square-foot area, which is the best performance of all the products in our lineup. It also comes with several automatic features (auto shut-off, restart and defrost) that allow you to plug it in and leave it. Its performance, conveniences, and the fact that it requires minimal monitoring and maintenance make it a top-notch choice.
