The HP Pavilion g6t-2000 is a business laptop that can get the job done. While it doesn't have as much power as some of the best business laptops we reviewed, it has plenty to offer. The Pavilion features good connectivity options and plenty of hard drive space. There are many areas in which the Pavilion could be improved, but its strength lies in the ability you have to customize your device to the specifications you need through HP's online store.
One of the standout features of this business laptop is its attractive, durable and compact design. The HP Pavilion features a striking metal design and a platinum finish. It is well built and durable. Its strong design can handle the wear and tear of constant traveling and of taking it in and out of carrying cases or backpacks. At 5.46 pounds, it isn't the smallest business laptop we reviewed, but its size makes it easy for you to stow it away without taking up too much space.
The HP Pavilion features a 15.6-inch display screen with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The screen is sharp and bright. This business laptop has a responsive touchpad with two-way scroll, along with a built-in HD webcam and integrated digital microphone. This device also includes a 10-key number pad.
The HP Pavilion's battery life is a bit deficient. A full charge will net you approximately five hours and 45 minutes of continuous use, which is not quite enough to get you through a full workday. The standard model of this business laptop uses a 2nd Generation Intel i3-2350M processor with speeds up to 2.3GHz. You can upgrade all the way to an i7 processor, and Turbo Boost on the i5 processors provides speed increases up to 3.1GHz.
The HP Pavilion uses a standard Intel HD Graphics card, but it is possible to upgrade to a Radeon HD 7670M graphics card. The onboard audio utilizes high quality Altec Lansing speakers, which work surprisingly well. The Pavilion comes equipped with 4GB of RAM, with the capability to house up to 8GB. Many laptops can go higher, but most people don't need more than 8GB of RAM. The laptop's 500GB hard drive can be upgraded up to 1TB.
There are several connectivity options available on the HP Pavilion g6t-2000. There are three USB ports on the device – one USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0. The Pavilion also includes an HDMI port and a VGA port. The inclusion of an HDMI port has almost become necessary for a product to survive among the best business laptops, so we were glad to see one included with the Pavilion. You'll also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, but Bluetooth capabilities on this business laptop are optional. This machine comes with an SD card reader, and the optical drive can be upgraded to a Blu-ray player, though it does not come standard.
HP products, including this Pavilion, are surrounded by helpful support options. Malfunctions can happen with any piece of hardware from almost any company, but HP provides great services to back you up. Online HP resources include live chat, which is extremely helpful, and HP representatives who are available 24 hours a day to provide hardware and technical support by phone. HP services also include a one- or three-year warranty on parts and labor to ensure that your product functions as it should.
We are impressed with design and durability of this HP device. It can handle the constant travel and moving that most business laptops must endure. The power and connectivity options are excellent features, but we are disappointed with the low battery life. Still, the HP Pavilion g6t-2000 will help you accomplish all your work, whether you're on a long business trip or just taking your workload home.
