This South Korea-based company is a relative newcomer to the American market. LG’s appliances usually feature a fairly progressive design, and the LG LCG3611ST stainless gas cooktop with Superboil is no exception. This gas cooktop has a clean appearance with a seamless stainless steel pan, five sealed burners and continuous cast iron grates that have an interesting horizontal pattern, making moving pans around an easy job. The control panel has five simple knobs that jut into the cooking surface in an attractive design.
The burners average about 10,000 Btu. The primary burner for this gas stovetop reaches 17,000 Btu for quick boiling and searing, which is where it got its name. There’s also a 5,000 Btu burner for precise simmering and melting. These Btu outputs are on the lower end of the scale. The knobs for each burner are conveniently placed in the center front and are parallel with the countertop, so kids can’t easily access them. The burners are all sealed to prevent messes from falling beneath the cooktop. The continuous grates make moving pans across the surface an easy effort.
The simple control panel on this 36-inch gas cooktop consists of a row of knobs for each burner that is centrally situated. If you prefer a different arrangement, the KitchenAid KCGS556ESS Pro gives you knob controls arranged along the front of the appliance. There are no extra features like hot-surface indicators or backlit knobs. The knobs are dishwasher safe, but have a lightweight, insubstantial feel. This model requires separate ventilation, preferably a dedicated vent hood directly over the cooktop. When compared with other models in our gas cooktop reviews, this one also has other noticeably missing feature, like automatic reignition, a child lock and an integrated griddle. If you fuel your kitchen with liquid propane, this unit comes with an LP cooktop conversion kit for convenience.
If you want to upgrade from a range by pairing a cooktop with wall ovens, this is an option for budget-conscious consumers to consider. This is also a good option if you aren’t too concerned about having some of the features offered by best-rated gas cooktop brands we reviewed.
The LG LCG3611ST has the industry-standard one-year warranty. LG’s product registration can be completed online, and the company offers online chat, phone and email support. It provides technical assistance and online manuals for quick reference, as well as a library of videos for learning how to use the gas cooktops and troubleshooting its appliances.
