PROS / The company's three monitoring plans allow you to customize the system to fits your needs.
CONS / Monitronics does not offer live chat customer support.
VERDICT / This is a good home security provider with three monitoring plans to suit the needs of different homes.
Monitronics is a national alarm monitoring company with authorized dealers across the country. It provides home security monitoring, equipment and installation for homes. With a variety of security devices comparable to those of the top-rated companies, Monitronics has earned a spot on our list of the best home security monitoring companies. The company's years of experience contribute to its reputation.
This monitoring service has all of the typical necessities in its home security monitoring service. As a 24/7/365 company, Monitronics can protect you by landline, cellular connection or VoIP. As is standard now, if you are willing to pay a bit more each month for the service, the company throws in interactive access and home automation. All Monitronics plans have a three-year contract, which is average for the home security monitoring market.
With interactive monitoring, you can check the status of your system and even make changes to it while you are away from home. Monitronics does this through Alarm.com, which several other companies use as well. Alarm.com also provides remote access control over your home's lighting, thermostat and more when you automate your home through Monitronics.
Monitronics breaks its systems down into three main plans: Basic, HomeTouch and HomeTouch Premier. Each of the plans comes with basic equipment, while the two higher plans allow you to have a variety of devices, such as video cameras, thermostats and lighting controls. As with most home security companies, you can customize your system to your house to accommodate your personal needs. Monitronics also offers takeover monitoring plans, which allow you to use the existing equipment in your home with the system.
Corporate Monitronics provides customer support by phone and an email form. The email form, however, isn't specific to customer support. When we called Monitronics to find out about the availability of a service plan, we were unable to obtain information without signing up for a new service. The customer service number on the company's website redirects you to a sales specialist, and the company doesn't provide live chat support.
Monitronics' home security is worth looking into. It offers three useful monitoring plans and a variety of equipment. The company lacks a few things, such as live chat support, but it's still a good choice.
