The company's customer support is very good, and it includes a lifetime warranty on equipment. However, the contract you sign is average for the industry, which is to say not very flexible.
This service has some of the lowest rates on landline security systems of any company in our review. However, we looked at cellular-connected systems, and Protect America’s cheapest option costs $41.99 a month; this is higher than the industry average of $37. Previously, Protect America had no startup fees listed on its website but has since started charging $99. This is typical for home security companies, and it's a little disappointing that Protect America has adopted the policy as well.
Your contract lasts three years, and you must pay the full balance if you cancel early. At the start of your contract, you have 14 days to cancel your service and return equipment to avoid fees. While this isn't the shortest equipment return policy in our review, it's the shortest among home security systems you can self-install. The contract automatically renews on a monthly basis when the initial period ends.

Protect America’s packages center around the GE Simon XT, a wireless control panel you can install yourself. It works with a variety of door and window sensors, glass-break sensors, sirens, and recessed door sensors. Protect America also sells a camera you can access remotely using a mobile app, though you need to add a video feature to your service agreement.
In addition, you can augment the system with extra security devices that warn you about environmental and life threats. These include specialized sensors and alerts for smoke, fire, carbon monoxide, extreme temperature change, flood and power failure. However, you need to add these alerts individually as part of your service agreement. Protect America does not offer an alert for natural gas leaks.

The monthly cost of its 24/7 monitoring service is higher than most comparable systems. However, the difference in price may be well worth paying. The variety of packages, security devices and customer support the company offers make it a worthy competitor in our review.
