If you’re looking to upgrade your rickety old home computer then you’re in luck, as Black Friday is just around the corner, which means that the best Black Friday computer deals are about to start popping up. This means you should be able to grab one of the best home computers with a hefty discount, whether it’s a new gaming PC for playing Cyberpunk 2077, or a home office powerhouse to boost your productivity when working from home.
So what should you look out for when hunting for the best Black Friday computer deals? And when will all these savings and deals start to go live? Black Friday is the single biggest shopping event of the year, as retail stores and websites host huge sales with discounts on just about anything you can think of. That includes everything from home computers and laptops to accessories like monitors, printers, wireless keyboards and mice. Black Friday is always held on the Friday after Thanksgiving, which is November 27 this year.
In reality though, Black Friday computer deals and sales aren’t contained to a single day anymore - it’s more like a week of sales, usually starting up in the week before Black Friday and continuing through to Cyber Monday (a day focused on online deals rather than physical stores).
What Black Friday computer deals can we expect to see?
When the sales do begin, we’re expecting to see huge discounts on a range of products from all the major manufacturers including Dell, Alienware, Apple, and Lenovo.
Which deals you should be looking for depends on what kind of home computer you want, and what you want to use it for? If you’re a designer or creator, then you should keep an eye out for deals on the Apple iMac, especially the previous model - we’d expect to see decent discounts on the Apple iMac 2019 this year for sure, with retailers looking to clear stock for this year’s model. During last year’s Black Friday sales, the 27” iMac with 8GB RAM and 1TB storage was down to $1600 - a saving of $200 off the MSRP.
If you’re looking for more of an all rounder in the Black Friday home computer sales, then we’d recommend the Dell XPS 8940. It’s the quintessential desktop tower PC, with a simple professional design and plenty of hardware customization options.
And for the gamers out there, we’re expecting to see some pretty hefty discounts on Alienware home computers if last year’s sales are anything to go by. Last year it was offering $330 off on several of it’s gaming desktops including the Alienware Aurora.
Black Friday Computer Deals: What to look out for?
Black Friday is a huge shopping event for sure, but one of the underlying reasons for its existence is that it lets stores and retailers clear out their inventory of older stock. This is especially true when it comes to technology like home computers as they’re constantly being upgraded and replaced by new models.
What we’re saying is that if you’re OK buying last year’s model, you’ll be able to make some huge savings and still pick up some fantastic hardware, but you’re unlikely to see amazing deals on recently released models.
Honestly though, you’re missing out on very little these days by getting last years showroom pieces - the advance of computer technology has slowed down considerably in recent years and the difference between newer models and last years version isn’t going to be enormous and we’d argue that only serious gamers and those working in video editing are the only ones who should consider sitting on the cutting edge of progress.
What home computer deals are live now?
Black Friday isn’t quite upon us just yet, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t deals out there for you to take advantage of. We’ve grouped these deals up based on the manufacturer, so let's get started.
