The Modway Articulate is a decent choice if you want a no-frills chair for your home office. Straight away you'll notice that it doesn't offer dedicated neck support, so it isn't as comfy or posture aligning as the very best ergonomic office chairs, but it's a lot better than basic models.

There's a decent level of adjustability here too, in terms of the chair height and the armrests. You can also adjust the Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair so that it reclines when needed, which is a nice touch on a sub-$190 posture chair. Plus, the seat is super-plush and cushioned, and overall it would make a good pairing for one of the best standing desks for home use if you stand more than you sit.

But does the Modway Articulate really have the goods to support your posture and keep you feeling comfy when working from home? In our review we look at the chair's spec, design and features, and analyze customer reviews, to help you figure out if it's seriously worth considering.

Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair: Overview

For the price, the Modway Articulate offers a degree of adjustability and seat tilt for reclining, plus added comfort via a breathable mesh back and deep padded seat. While some may need a lot more creature comforts, if you only intend to use the chair occasionally, Modway's affordable option should fit the bill quite nicely.

If you intend to spend longer at your desk or you're experiencing neck and back pain and need something super-supportive, read our Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair review, our overall top pick.

We'd also recommend speaking to your doctor or a physical therapist to learn how to get a better posture when home working. You could also ask them whether introducing one of the best handheld massagers for tight muscles into your daily routine could alleviate any discomfort.

So while the Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair isn't ideal for above average heights and weights, what you do get for the price is reasonable. And with a good range of fabric colors on offer, it should fit in with most home office decors too.

Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair: Design

The Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair is fitted with five hooded dual-caster wheels. These are designed to help the chair glide more easily over different types of flooring, including hard floors and carpeted surfaces.

The back height and seat depth are adjustable too, so you could tailor (to an extent) the chair to your height and that of your desk. For a much more versatile and adjustable chair, and one that isn't that much more expensive, read our Ticova Ergonomic Office Chair review.

The Modway Articulate requires self-assembly and there are quite a few parts to slot together, so if you aren't confident in this area, you may need to draft in a second pair of hands.

The cushioned seat is a plush six inches deep, which will provide some extra comfort for your sitting bones, and it's designed to hold a maximum weight of 331lbs. That's higher than most of the chairs featured in our round-up apart from one. Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair: Features

This affordable ergonomic office chair is a smart choice if you’re looking for a quick way to get straight to work with minimum fuss. The breathable mesh back provides plenty of comfort to keep the chair cool so you can sit for longer without getting too hot or bothered. Other comfy features include a cosy fabric cushion seat to provide extra support for pressure points.

Adjustability comes courtesy of back height and seat height, both of which are easy to raise or lower to suit your size. Meanwhile, the armrests can be adjusted to give your arms and shoulders proper support, and there is also seat tilt and back tilt with lock so you can recline safely.

All adjustments are easy to do via levers situated by the seat. While there is no targeted lumbar support as found on some other chairs, the curved shape of the seat-back provides adequate support, and the back height can be altered to your sitting position, although this won’t suit everybody.

Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair: How could it benefit you?

The Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair has plenty to offer for the price. It’s a great option if you need something cheaper for occasional use or only work from home part-time.

There is a good amount of height adjustability, but the lack of adjustable lumbar support could mean you will need to improvise a little if you need any extra support.

If you are looking for something with a comfortable seat and height adjustability rather than specifically back support, then this chair is a good choice.

  • The affordability makes it ideal for occasional use
  • The padded seat is ideal for average-sized people looking to work comfortably
  • It's height adjustable making it easier to get your posture aligned correctly
  • Adjustable armrests makes typing easier
  • Comes in different colors to suit your decor

One reviewer on Amazon said: "Overall, the quality and design is good for the price point. It's just not the right fit for me. I'm 5' 1"".

Should you buy the Modway Articulate Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair?

If you're looking for an affordable seat to use occasionally in your home office, or to partner with an electric desk because you stand more than you sit, the Modway Articulate Ergonomic Office Chair would work. It has enough adjustability and support to pass as an ergonomic, but the focus is definitely more on value for money.

While the quality of parts obviously won't be up there with the pricier models, this is a reasonably stylish chair boasting some nice comfort touches, such as a padded seat and adjustable armrests. With a range of colors on offer too, the Modway Articulate would look good in most home offices, regardless of the decor.

Ultimately, it comes down to your budget, how often you're likely to use it, and whether you need something more supportive for pressure relief or flexible for in-chair stretching.
