Our Verdict

With adjustable support exactly where you need it, the Nouhaus Ergo3D is a must-have for most home offices, but be prepared to pay a higher price for the great design and features.

For

  • Proper head support
  • Excellent lumbar support system
  • Breathable, flexible mesh material
  • Highly adjustable (tailor it to your body and desk)

Against

  • Not suitable for those over 6'1"

The Nouhaus Ergo3D is built for maximum comfort and support, helping to keep your posture better aligned and healthier when you're sitting. It's our top pick of the best ergonomic office chairs because it offers high adjustability, meaning you can tailor it better to suit your body and your desk.

With plenty of options to adjust the headrest, plus the tilt and height of the chair, finding your perfect sitting position is the name of the Ergo3D game. It can also be partnered with one of the best standing desks to break up unhealthy long periods spent sat down, and dishes out added lumbar support to keep you aligned while you are sat. Being in alignment means less aches and pains for you in the long-term.

In our Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair review, we look at the chair's design, features, spec and user reviews, and discuss why it’s a particularly brilliant choice for people suffering from neck pain and tightness. If you have knotted muscles, ask your doctor for advise and to see if it's worth adding one of the best handheld massagers to your wellness routine.

Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair review: Overview

While the Ergo3D isn't cheap, you get plenty of comfort for your cash here. In fact, Nouhaus promises that the Ergo3D is, “a chair that goes beyond ergonomics... one that conforms to your body and your life”.

While that might sound dramatic, there’s an abundance of adjustability on offer here, all of which should dish out next-level support while you work. The 4D Orbital armrests, for example, can be maneuvered to glide and tilt, giving just the right position for maximum support and comfort.

One glance at the back of the Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair will also tell you that there's a very robust lumbar support system at work here to help align your spine.

On a style note, you can buy this chair in four different colors (black, grey, blu, burgundy), though we think the all-black version is the smartest. It's in the mid-range for price, so if you need a cheaper option check out our Ticova Ergonomic Office Chair review.

Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair review: Design

The Nouhaus is a contemporary looking chair with a pared-back aesthetic. The headrest features a breathable and soft HD ElastoMesh fabric to enhance airflow and minimize any sticking to the chair. The curvy, almost futuristic look won't suit everyone, but with the colors on offer it should blend in with most home offices.

The brand recommends the Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair for people who measure between 5’4” and 6’1”. So if you're taller than this, read our La-Z-Boy Trafford Big and Tall Executive Office Chair review instead.

The Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair is designed with a five-point aluminium base to boost stability, plus two sets of Blade Castor wheels to help it roll easily over hard and carpeted floors.

There are also lashings of breathable ElastoMesh fabric across the back and top to keep you cool during hot weather. Plus, there's a heavy duty iron base to anchor the chair as you sit, prevent any toppling.

Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair review: Features

At the top of this chair, the 2D Adjust headrest moves up and down easily, and can be angled up or down, with an ‘ErgoTilt’ design to encourage better neck placement. Nouhaus has also fitted it with something called Dynamic Lumbar Support, backed by the brand's innovative 'Just-For-Me' feature that helps the support system adjust to your body as you shift position.

The 4D Adjustable armrests glide forwards, back, sideways, up and down, as well as pivot left and right. Not only does this help you achieve the comfiest position to reduce wrist and arm strains, it will keep them beautifully supported while you work at your desk.

There’s a good range of seat heights on offer too, from 18.5" to 22.4". This function is powered by a hydraulic-gas lift, which can take weights of up to 275lbs. Our favorite feature beyond the lumbar system is called Super-Lounge Recline. This enables you to recline the chair a full 135 degrees while you're sat in it; perfect for those moments where you want to kick back and contemplate a tricky bit of work.

You could potentially do some back stretches in your chair using the Super-Lounge Recline feature, but we'd recommend picking something for chair yoga if you want to stretch at your desk. Check out our Gabrylly Ergonomic Mesh Office Chair review on that front.

Should you buy the Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair?

If you want top-notch comfort, adjustability and a great design too, then the Nouhaus Ergo3D should be at the top of your list. This is especially true if you spend a lot of time sat at your desk.

The Ergo3D is a smart choice if you want extra lumbar support, plus a softer, more flexible and breathable fabric than you would normally find on a mesh back office chair.

Yes it's more expensive compared to the average ergonomic chair, but here you're paying for a superb lumbar support system and high level of adjustability. It's hard to put a price on this type of comfort, day in, day out.
