The Nouhaus Ergo 3D Ergonomic Office Chair is a mesh-style office chair, thoughtfully designed to give support where you need it most. It’s made our list of recommendations for the best ergonomic office chairs because of its high-quality lumbar support and adjustability.

Nouhaus Ergo3D: Key specs

Seat depth: 16.3”

Seat width: 19.7”

Seat height: 18.5” to 22.4”

Max user weight: 275 lbs

The adjustable options include altering the headrest, and the tilt and height of the chair until you find that ideal sitting position. This chair will help you to correct any posture issues that are easy to let slip while you work and to keep your body better aligned while you are sitting in the longer term.

The Ergo3D isn't cheap, but you get plenty of comfort for your cash. In fact, Nouhaus promises that the Ergo3D is, “a chair that goes beyond ergonomics... one that conforms to your body and your life”.

In our review, we look in more detail at the specifications of this ergonomic office chair and how it could work for your home working lifestyle. We’ll cover what can be adjusted and the different color options available if you feel like a change from classic black, and explain why this office chair is one of the best ones on the market.

While it may not be suitable for anyone over 6ft1 and it’s at a high price point, it’s an office chair that delivers on comfort features that may make it worth the investment.

Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair: Design

The Nouhaus is a contemporary looking chair with a pared-back aesthetic. The headrest features a breathable and soft HD ElastoMesh fabric to enhance airflow and minimize any sticking to the chair. The curvy, almost futuristic look won't suit everyone, but with the colors on offer it should blend in with most home offices.

The brand recommends the Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair for people who measure between 5’4” and 6’1”. So if you're taller than this, read our La-Z-Boy Trafford Big and Tall Executive Office Chair review instead.

The Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair is designed with a five-point aluminum base to boost stability, plus two sets of Blade Castor wheels to help it roll easily over hard and carpeted floors.

There are also lashings of breathable ElastoMesh fabric across the back and top to keep you cool during hot weather. Plus, there's a heavy-duty iron base to anchor the chair as you sit, preventing any toppling.

On a style note, you can buy this chair in four different colors (black, grey, blu, burgundy), though we think the all-black version is the smartest.

Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair: Features

At the top of this chair, the 2D Adjust headrest moves up and down easily, and can be angled up or down, with an ‘ErgoTilt’ design to encourage better neck placement. Nouhaus has also fitted it with something called Dynamic Lumbar Support, backed by the brand's innovative 'Just-For-Me' feature that helps the support system adjust to your body as you shift position.

The 4D Adjustable armrests glide forwards, back, sideways, up and down, as well as pivot left and right. Not only does this help you achieve the comfiest position to reduce wrist and arm strains, but it will also keep them beautifully supported while you work at your desk.

There’s a good range of seat heights on offer too, from 18.5" to 22.4". This function is powered by a hydraulic-gas lift, which can take weights of up to 275lbs. Our favorite feature beyond the lumbar system is called Super-Lounge Recline. This enables you to recline the chair a full 135 degrees while you're sat in it; perfect for those moments when you want to kick back and contemplate a tricky bit of work.

You could potentially do some back stretches in your chair using the Super-Lounge Recline feature, but we'd recommend picking something for chair yoga if you want to stretch at your desk.

Should you buy the Nouhaus Ergo3D Ergonomic Office Chair?

The Nouhaus Ergo3D ergonomic office chair has a heavy-duty 5-point base for stability and wheels suitable to roll easily over carpeted or hard flooring. It’s built to last and built to keep you comfortable with its multiple adjustable options. They go further than just a simple height adjustment for the seat, adding in the tilted headrest, armrests, and up to 135-degree recline.

With the adjustability comes comfort from a breathable fabric that is softer and more flexible than some mesh-backed office chair materials. The comfort factor and adjustability may sway you if you’re concerned about return on investment given the price, especially if you’re at your desk on a regular basis.

Yes it's more expensive compared to the average ergonomic chair, but you're paying for a superb lumbar support system and high level of adjustability. It's hard to put a price on this type of comfort, day in, day out.

If this product isn't for you

If the Nouhaus Ergo3D isn’t quite your style, however, one of these suggestions might better suit your needs.

If you’re looking for a chair with extra support for the head and neck, then the Ticova Ergonomic Chair can deliver just that. Whether you have neck pain, or just enjoy the extra support of a headrest, the Ticova has plenty of comfort on offer, from the neck, through to a high-density foam padded seat bed.

For lumbar support and a recline option on a budget check out the Modway Articulate Mesh Office Chair. While it doesn’t have the advanced features of the Nouhaus Ergo 3D, it still offers plenty of comfort and a breathable mesh back, adjustable armrests, and adjustable back and seat depth functions.

A taller or heavier frame can be accommodated in the La-Z-Boy Trafford Big And Tall Executive Chair, which has a weight capacity of up to 400 lbs. With a waterfall edge designed to reduce pressure on the thighs, and extra cushioning from a memory foam padded seat, that will add optimum comfort to your home office.
