Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic is a rice cooker that can also be used as a food steamer and a slow cooker. Designed so that you can add six cups of dry rice and create 12 fluffy cups of cooked rice, the Aroma rice cooker is ideal for family meals. If there aren’t many mouths to feed in your home, consider the Aroma ARC-743-1NG rice cooker which has half the capacity.

Unlike pan and water methods, rice created using a rice cooker absorbs all of the water leaving you with soft and fluffy rice that’s ready to eat. For the full round up of all the models we reviewed and to see which one we crowned as the best, head to our guide to the best rice cookers.

Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic rice cooker: Features

The Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic rice cooker is an affordable appliance that not only cooks rice but also acts as a food steamer, risotto cooker, and slow cooker. Complete with a simple design and useful handle, the Aroma ARC-616SB is a useful kitchen appliance if you make a lot of rice-based meals. An easy-to-read control panel is positioned across the front of this cooker, which makes it easy to choose which setting you’d like. Setting choices include; white rice, brown rice, slow cooking, steaming, oatmeal, cakes, and soup.

In the lower section of the Aroma, you can cook your rice, while the top area is for steaming vegetables, as well as meat. If your rice is cooked but you’re not quite ready to eat, there’s a Keep Warm function to allow a little longer.

What’s more, a handy delayed timer on the Aroma ARC-616SB rice cooker means you can set it up 15 hours before you need it to start cooking. The Aroma rice cooker can also make changes to the cooking time based on outside temperature factors.

To help you keep on top of cleaning this rice cooker, the cooking pot and accessories can go in the dishwasher to save you having to scrub it clean in the sink.

Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic rice cooker: Performance

The Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic cooks rice evenly so that the rice at the top of the interior is just as consistent as the rice at the bottom. What this machine is lacking, however, is a setting that allows you to choose the texture of the rice you’re cooking.

What we did like about the Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic was the Sauté-Then-Simmer function which automatically switches the cooking mode to simmer when you add liquid to the pot. For under $100, this rice cooker offers a quality build and well-designed parts to create fluffy rice at home with little effort.

The Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic rice cooker scored an average of 4.1 stars out of five Amazon. The five star reviews mention how versatile this cooker is, saying it “works perfectly”, and lasts a really long time if you wash it using hot soapy water, rather than using the dishwasher. The one star reviews mention how the “lid isn’t removable and allows mold to grow”. Other reviews state that the rice can take twice as long as recommended to cook, so keep this in mind if you cook meals to a tight time schedule.

Should you buy the Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic rice cooker?

The Aroma ARC-616SB Sensor Logic rice cooker offers an affordable option for cooking not just rice, but a variety of foods to go with your rice cooker. The parts are dishwasher friendly and the built-in functions are fairly sophisticated for the price. This rice cooker may be too big for some households though, as it's capable of up to 12 cups. It can take a little longer than some others, but the built in timer helps you plan meals well in advance.
