PROS / The ImmunoLytics Mold Test Kit offers a free mycology report with every kit, so you don't have to pay extra to know what you're dealing with.
CONS / The kit is not certified by the American Industrial Hygiene Association, which is a certification we like to see.
VERDICT / This mold test kit is simple to use and comes preassembled, but it lacks test-method diversity.
If you believe you have a mold problem, a basic mold test kit can verify whether this is the case or not. ImmunoLytics' Mold Test Kit gives you enough equipment to inspect indoor air, but it lacks some crucial sampling methods. Fortunately, its mold tests include full laboratory analysis at no extra charge. So if you have a mold problem, you can present the report to a removal and remediation specialist to save some money.
The ImmunoLytics Mold Test Kit is designed to test your home's air for mold by placing a petri dish on a surface and allowing particulates to settle onto the included petri dish for an hour. The mold test comes assembled, so you can begin testing as soon as you get this test kit. The instructions are easy to follow. ImmunoLytics recommends that you don't turn on your heating, ventilation or air conditioning (HVAC) system while testing. We are disappointed that ImmunoLytics instructs against HVAC sampling, as these systems are usually the source and carrier of mold spores.
This test kit comes with a free lab analysis, meaning you can send a sample to their laboratory for detailed analysis. The lab sends a report within a week of it receiving the sample. Unfortunately, ImmunoLytics is not certified by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). AIHA accreditation is the highest level of certification because it requires monthly renewal. Also keep in mind that if you want to send a bulk sample, you'll have to pay an extra fee.
The kit comes with a ready-to-use petri dish. You do not have to add the growth medium, so once you're ready to start testing for mold, you only have to remove the lid. The mold detector does not include a cotton swab, bulk-sample bags or lift tape. Also, we could not find an expiration date listed on the kit.
ImmunoLytics provides customer support by email and telephone, but while we were researching the lab, we had some trouble reaching anyone there. Also, we could not find a FAQs section or video tutorials on the company website. Fortunately, you can download the kit's instructions as a printable PDF file.
The ImmunoLytics Mold Test Kit is a basic mold test kit that uses just one testing method but includes a free lab analysis with every kit. If you suspect you have a mold problem, you could save money by getting your full mycology report through ImmunoLytics instead of paying a mold-removal specialist.
