Pros / Its bladeless design makes it the safest fan available.
Cons / You have to be able to aim the remote directly at the base for it to work properly.
Verdict / Although this bladeless fan costs more than other tower fans, its unique, safe design and powerful airflow make it one of the best tower fans available.
Lying on your bed surrounded by hot, stagnant air is a horrible way to spend your nights. Tower fans are a great way to increase airflow and improve the comfort level of your bedroom. Our Top Ten Reviews Gold Award winner, the Dyson AM07, combines improved airflow with the safety of bladeless fan technology to keep you cool and comfortable.

Using a fan should be a simple, straightforward experience. The average tower fan features a limited number of speed settings like high, medium and low. This Dyson fan has a different function, similar to a light dimmer switch that enables you to adjust the speed of airflow with the turn of a knob. This allows you to find the perfect fan speed for any room where you use the fan.
The tower fan includes a remote control with a convenient magnetic-storage feature. This allows you to place the remote on top of the fan and it will grip on with a magnet, helping you keep track of your fan remote – a handy feature since remotes in general tend to disappear. To use the remote, however, you need a clear line of sight to the base of the fan to get the remote to recognize its signals. You can also set a timer to automatically shut off the fan at 15, 30 or 45 minutes, or for longer durations, in hourly increments up to nine hours. The timer function is a great way to save power, and it is nice to not have to wake up and turn off the fan at night when the temperature finally drops.
One of the best features of this fan is that there is no danger of someone sticking a finger into the fan and being injured. In the AM07’s case, it is actually fun to extend your arm through the middle of the bladeless loop and feel the air glide across your arm. It does not matter whether you use it as a floor fan or a standing fan perched on a sturdy surface – you are completely safe from dangerous blades. This is an especially nice feature if you have curious pets or kids around the house.
Safety is not the only benefit of a bladeless tower fan. Unscrewing a grill on a dirty fan and vacuuming or wiping down the blades is a tedious and dirty job. With the Dyson AM07, a quick swipe along the exposed surface with a cloth or a duster is all you need.
This tower fan is Energy Star compliant, running on 10 percent less power than the old model. Dyson offers a two-year warranty with its Air Multiplier tower fans, which includes parts and labor. This warranty is longer than the average offered by most manufacturers, which is typically one year.
The Dyson AM07 looks very different from most tower fans. Most noticeable is the lack of blades or a grill; you can see right through the center. This departure from traditional, bladed fans brings about the question, how does it work? It takes air in through its base unit and pushes the air with a quiet, yet powerful, Air Multiplier fan. The fan blows it up and through the loop, forcing the air out in a comfortable level of airflow.
You will notice, however, that the airflow produced from a Dyson AM tower fan feels different from traditional fans. Dyson describes this difference as a lack of the buffeting you normally feel from the air being chopped and pushed forward with wide blades. Without this buffeting, the flow is smooth and constant, resulting in a more peaceful effect from the airflow.
This tower fan, while not completely silent, runs up to 60 percent quieter than other Dyson AM tower fans with a maximum decibel rating of 64 dBA on high. The machine can move up to 1271 CFM (cubic feet of air per minute) at maximum speed. This is more than double the average CFM of most tower fans.
While the AM07 oscillates left and right at a 90-degree angle, it does lack the ability to tilt. This limits where you can aim the airflow. To tilt the machine, you would have to place an object beneath the base, making the unit unstable. Fortunately, this fan is easy to reposition, as it weighs a light 6.3 pounds, and the long 6.5-foot cord enables you to place the fan close to where you need cool air.
