If you are paying for a people search service to help you reconnect with a lost friend or family member, you need a service that will provide accurate and plentiful information about the person. KnowX's Ultimate People Finder service provides too little information for too high a price, especially when compared to other services we reviewed.

When you land on KnowX's homepage, the site encourages you to start by opening an account. Do not follow this advice. To register, you have to provide your credit card information, even if you're not ready to buy. Instead, we recommend previewing the search results before you consider paying for the service. To find the Ultimate People Finder, you have to click the Pricing tab at the top of the page. There, you'll see all of the services KnowX provides and the prices for each.

We were impressed by the variety of services available, and if you are also interested in real estate records, you may want to check out the Assets or Real Estate Records search engines. To find a person, you scroll down the alphabetical list and click on the Ultimate People Finder link. This will take you to the actual search page. While most people search services provide the search engine on the homepage, KnowX forces you to hunt for this tool. The search engine requires a name and state to begin a search.

When we ran our accuracy test, we provided detailed information for our test subject. In the preview field, we were given the exact information we typed. If you pay for the information, you can get a more detailed report, but the preview made it hard to justify making this purchase. The actual report may give you the subject's name, phone number, address and dates associated with that address. You will not receive an address or phone number history, though, unless you pay extra.

KnowX does not guarantee its service, and if you are not able to find the person you are looking for or if the data is inaccurate, you will have to go through a lengthy and often unsuccessful refund process. If you have questions about the service, KnowX provides a detailed and useful FAQ section. Customer service is available by email and live chat. Both options connect you to representatives who are responsive and helpful. Unfortunately, KnowX does not provide telephone support or a no-hit-no-fee guarantee.

KnowX provides a basic people search service, and if you're interested in other types of record searches, it has a wide variety of investigation programs. However, the people finder offers basic information and does not provide a sufficient preview function to justify its price. Worst of all, if you get bad information, KnowX does not guarantee its service.
