Leawo Blu-ray Copy earns the Top Ten Reviews Silver Award in our review of the best Blu-ray copy software. It not only allows you to make perfect physical copies of your Blu-ray movies, but you can also digitally archive them on your computer. It has anti-encryption algorithms so you can make personal backup copies the commercial Blu-ray movies you've paid for. But it falls short of the top spot on our side-by-side comparison chart because it lacks most of the compression and customization options we look for in this category.

The first thing to understand about this Blu-ray copy software application is that anyone can use it – even if they have only basic computer skills. Once the disc you want to copy is loaded into the interface, you simply click the Copy button to start the disc-to-disc copy option. This process can take several hours depending on your computer's processor, the size of the Blu-ray movie and your burner drive. But this is true of all the Blu-ray copy software applications we reviewed when we chose the disc-to-disc copy option.

If you're making more than one copy of a Blu-ray movie, you'd be better served to extract its disc image (ISO file) to your computer's hard drive and burn additional copies from that file. An ISO file is the blueprint for your Blu-ray disc. When you burn copies from an ISO file, it saves you hours of waiting time than if you were to burn individual disc-to-disc copies. In our tests, it took Leawo Blu-ray Copy 43 minutes to make a new physical copy of a movie.

Saving disc images to your computer has a number of benefits. You can watch it the same way you would as if you were using a physical disc on your system's Blu-ray player. And you can use the disc image to make new physical copies without needing the original. This is useful in the event that your source disc is damaged or lost.

Extracted disc images are also great for archiving your Blu-ray library, but if you want to do this, you should know that Blu-ray files are extremely large and will fill up all your computer's storage space very quickly. You may want to invest in an external hard drive with several terabytes of storage capacity if you plan to archive your entertainment collection.

One of the reasons this Blu-ray copy software application ranked high in our review is because it can bypass the anti-piracy encryptions on almost all commercial Blu-ray movies. This means that you can use this software to copy any Blu-ray movie you own. Lesser programs that omit this feature are limited to copying unprotected and homemade Blu-ray discs.

During our tests, we made several copies of Blu-ray movies using this application. When our video experts inspected the results, they were unable to find any difference whatsoever from the original discs. This was typical among the best Blu-ray copy programs we reviewed.

Blank Blu-ray discs come in several sizes, ranging from 25GB to 100GB. And they get more expensive with the more capacity they have. Most Blu-ray movies are contained on 50GB discs. Don't buy the least-expensive blanks you can find to make copies; you'll need to buy the higher-capacity discs.

One thing that would make this software more useful is if it could compress these large Blu-ray files to fit onto the smaller-capacity blank Blu-ray discs or DVDs. This would could save you a lot of money in the long run if you plan to make multiple copies of Blu-ray movies. This omission is one of the reasons why this program fell short of the top spot on our side-by-side comparison.

This Blu-ray burner application has only one customization option. You can choose the Movie Only option from the application's main interface. This strips away menus, special features, subtitles and everything else except the feature presentation. There is a button marked Custom that allows you to pick and choose which tracks you want to make it onto the new disc. But that option is greyed-out when a Blu-ray is loaded into the interface. If you are copying a DVD, though, this option is available. We hope that in future versions, this tool will be available for Blu-ray.

Leawo Blu-ray copy is the only product we reviewed that has every technical and customer-support option we look for. If you have a problem, you can consult the program's official FAQs section found on the company's website. In the event your question can't be solved that way, there are three other ways you can contact Leawo for help. You can submit an email help request through their ticket system or you can log into their live chat room and talk to a customer service representative immediately. You can also send short questions through the company's social media accounts on services like Twitter and Facebook.

Leawo Blu-ray copy is one of the best Blu-ray copy programs you can buy. It bypasses copy encryptions, allowing you to make perfect copies of your favorite Blu-ray movies. You can also use it to archive your entire Blu-ray collection. The lack of customization and compression options kept it out of the top spot of our side-by-side comparison chart.
