HP (Hewlett-Packard) was born and raised as an American information technology corporation but is now a global provider. In the more recent years HP has surpassed companies like IBM and become the world’s largest information technology company. So why are they so big? Well, HP has had its share of mistakes but over the years they have become a manufacture that provides quality products with quality customer service, all for a price that most people can afford. Because of the lower prices HP has found a large market from companies that want hundreds of products for their employees, to single products for the home.

The HP Officejet H470wbt Mobile Printer falls in between those two extremes. There is a little niche in the printer market that more closely applies to business people that are on the go a lot, which is where this printer falls. This HP compact printer is made to go with you wherever you have to go. A last minute business trip to New York or California can be a little less stressful when you have the ability to finish up your work on the go and get it printed off and ready to present. This was one of our best compact printers, but has since been discontinued. If you want the latest HP model we recommend the HP OfficeJet All-In-One 250.

It’s pretty common for regular printers to have networking capabilities but not so much with mobile compact ones. Sometimes you find some with the option of adding a wireless connection but typically you have to buy the adapter. With the H470wbt you get it built-in and ready to go. This is very convenient for those not wanting to carry around cables in order to plug in your laptop and print off your work. Just sync you laptop and printer and then print off whatever you need. No cables taking up more space in your luggage leaves room for more important things like an extra pair of socks.

Typically you find certain things that go along with the small portable printers. They usually consist of slower printing then the regular inkjet and laser printers. With the high end printers that rule still applies but compared to the more average inkjet and laser printers we found that the HP Officejet H470wbt Mobile Printer is as fast, and even in some cases faster. This seems weird since the regular printers are bulkier and heavier and should theoretically be able to go faster and print better quality. This HP printer however has broken at least one of those rules. The one we found is that this printer can print off an amazing 22 ppm (pages per minute) in black and 18 ppm in color. That is more than any other mobile and compact printer, as well as a few of the leading laser and inkjet printers. Admittedly, the difference comes in a little with the quality of the print job and also the printer is more likely to jam or not smoothly feed the paper through. There have been a few complaints but it’s by far not the majority which could simply mean they got the lemon of the batch but who can say really. HP has plenty of ways to get the support you need should anything be off a little or even broken.

The biggest boast of HP for this particular series is a color print resolution of up to 4800 optimized dpi (dots per inch) and 1200 input dpi. What does this mean? Well it isn’t the most out there like a few of the photo only printers that can do about 9600 x 2400 dpi but it is as much as some of the HP photo only printers. It also is statistically higher than almost all regular inkjet printers. Unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to compare this printer with another but if the information is sound then you’ll have quite the little printer available to travel with. From the reaction of other consumers that actually have directly compared this print to others it sounds like it is a legitimate boast but like I mention previously, there were a few that didn’t have the same experience as everyone else. It seems like no matter what there is always someone who gets a lemon product and it’s always to people who voice their opinion. Truth be told that is probably a good thing since it’s always good to know the possible problems of a product so you’re at least forewarned and have some where to start.

HP has usually done a pretty good job with the products that they bring out and that seems to stand with the HP Officejet H470wbt Mobile Printer. It is a nice printer designed for people who are always on the go. It folds up into a nice compact package for easy transportation which makes the everyday “on the go” life a little easier to manage. Of course, if you want to go REALLY small, the Brother PocketJet PJ763 is tough to beat.
