The Panasonic KX-TG7875S is expensive but, as they say, you get what you pay for and in this case that is a whole lot of features aimed at making business users' lives easier. These features include unique extras like the ability to connect a smartphone, so it can remain on charge elsewhere, allowing you to take calls right there on the handset. You also get alerts when a text message is received.

If you're looking for something cheaper and easier to use you might want to check out another handset from our best cordless phones guide. The VTech CS6719 is our current budget pick.

Panasonic KX-TG7875S: Design and build

The Panasonic KX-TG7875S definitely has a more premium feel than most other cordless phones, with a metallic frame and premium buttons. Yet it remains light and compact in the hand.

The display is backlit for clarity in dim light but it also works well in daylight. The keys, on the other hand, are not so easy to read in the dark. You do get a clip, ideal if you want to hear this and use a headset while working.

The base is comprehensive when it comes to controls with lots of functions like handset locator, intercom, speakerphone, answerphone and more. Obviously, it can't match the best smartphones for features, but it's good for a cordless. This is also setup to work even if you suffer a power cut.

Bluetooth is a useful addition which allows you to connect smartphones, but more on that in the next section.

You get five handsets as part of this package, justifying the price a bit more. It can take up to six on the one base, if you want to pay for another.

Panasonic KX-TG7875S: Features

The Panasonic KX-TG7875S has that stand out feature of smartphone connectivity. Using Bluetooth you can pair up to two cell phones. This allows you to answer calls from the cordless phone without the cell phone being on you. There is also a USB port on the base allowing you to charge the cell right there.

Another cell phone focused feature is text alerts. You will be alerted on the phone when your cell receives a text, allowing you to check it. If you get a message on the answer phone while out you can setup message forwarding to your cell phone allowing you to check them on the move.

There's a useful intercom function allowing you to talk between handsets or from the base to the phones. Talking caller ID is a helpful feature as is the addition of headset jacks which allow you to talk hands-free.

Call blocking is a great feature, with up to 250 numbers that can be blocked. But this isn't done as easily as on some phones but more on that in the next section.

Panasonic KX-TG7875S: Performance

The Panasonic KX-TG7875S is certainly a very well made cordless phone with all the features you could hope for at home or in an office environment. The screen is large and clear, audio quality is great even when using the speakerphone or headset.

The battery life is simply superb on this handset, as the best in all the cordless phones we've tested. That means a talk time of 10 hours and a standby time of a whopping eight days. Plus it had one of the shortest charge times. And with five handsets you never need worry about not having a working phone – even when power goes out thanks to that back-up feature.

This isn't the easiest to fully configure. Of course you can plug in and get using but if you want to take full advantage of the features you're going to want to set aside a bit of time to pair up your cell phone, get the answerphone functional and input some numbers into the directory.

Call blocking is useful but, unlike some phones, there isn't a dedicated button for this. Instead you need to use a code, which is a little more hassle. Not a lot, but worth a mention.

Should I buy the Panasonic KX-TG7875S?

The Panasonic KX-TG7875S is the ideal cordless phone choice for a business. That said it's also great for larger homes that want the five handsets and could use that smartphone connection offering. Battery life is unparalleled and the quality and finish of the phones and base is definitely more premium than the competition.

The only reason you might not need this is the cost. If you want the best, this is worth the price. If you don't need all the features and that premium finish then you can save money by going for one of the other handsets - the AT&T CRL32102 is the best pick if you need multiple handsets on a budget.
