The Hopper 3 has 16 tuners, the most tuners of any product in our review. This means you can watch or record up to 16 programs at a time. This impressive capacity should eradicate any scheduling conflicts in your household, even with popular primetime programming. Additionally, you can watch four programs at the same time on an HD or 4K TV with the Sports Bar Mode.
With its 2TB internal hard drive, you can record a lot of content without worrying about bumping up against the storage limit, though you can connect an external hard drive to expand your storage capacity. The 2TB drive can record up to 500 high-definition (HD) hours or 2,000 standard-definition (SD) hours of your favorite TV shows and movies. With the addition of a DISH Joey device, you can stream content to multiple TVs throughout your house.
Soon, DISH claims, the accompanying remote will be upgraded to add a voice function – you will be able to say a command or TV show title and it will pull up search results automatically. From the remote, you can also adjust the extensive parental controls to prevent your kids from watching any content that may be inappropriate. The software automatically compiles any video content, no matter if it comes from your or DISH satellite Netflix, into a single source.
