You can get up to five years of additional coverage with Autopom’s extended car warranties. This car warranty company offers nationwide coverage for cars up to 20 years old and with up to 225,000 miles, which is the highest mileage restriction of all of the extended warranty services we evaluated. It also provides coverage in Canada.
Autopom offers five different policy plans to choose from, which is a pretty normal selection. You can choose from one plan that’s exclusive to new cars and four plans that range in coverage options for your car. The four plans are Powertrain Essentials, Powertrain Plus Essentials Plus, Named Component Mid-Level and Named Component High-Level. The Exclusionary New Car plan covers just about all of the mechanical and electrical components of the car, and it’s Autopom’s top, most comprehensive and most expensive plan.
The Named Component High-Level plan covers all major systems of your car such as the engine, transmission, drive axel, steering, braking, suspension, cooling system and more, and is the most coverage plan Autopom offers. The Named Component Mid-Level covers most of the major vehicle systems, including the cooling and heating systems, electrical components, engine, brakes, steering, suspension and more, and is a slight step-down from the Named Component High-Level plan.
Autopom’s two powertrain plans cover the fewest systems in your car and are the least expensive plans. The Powertrain Plus Essential Plus plan covers the engine, transmission, transfer case, differential assembly and the drive axel along with a few other systems. The Powertrain Essentials plan covers the engine, transmission, transfer case, differential assembly and the drive axel.
Autopom’s repair deductible is higher than the standard. In the event you need to use the car warranty to get your car repaired, you’ll be responsible for a $200 repair deductible. If you need a rental car while your car is in the repair shop, the company will reimburse you for up to five days and $35 per day for a rental car. This rental car reimbursement amount is pretty standard across the extended car warranty companies we reviewed.
Like most extended car warranty service companies, this one lets you choose your own repair location and you won’t have to handle the payment directly because the company will do it for you. Autopom lets you spread your payments out over two years, which is longer than some companies, and you’ll have a standard 30-day money back guarantee you can take advantage of if you’re unhappy with the service. Additionally, as is standard in the industry, you can transfer the extended car warranty with the car if you sell it during the warranty period.
Autopom offers customer support by phone and email, but lacks a live chat option, and you can’t contact the company for customer support 24/7 – only during business hours. You can, however, view a list of frequently asked questions on the website that are helpful for current and potential customers.
Our customer service experience with Autopom was good overall. The customer service representative we spoke with was helpful and patient as we asked questions about the policy. He kindly explained the details until we were satisfied. He was a tad pushy to get us to purchase right away, but didn’t keep pushing after we stated we weren’t ready to purchase, which is what we encountered with some other extended car warranty companies.
Autopom offers extensive coverage for new and old vehicles. You can receive all the standard coverage and policy services that an extended car warranty service should provide, and you even get some extra benefits that most don’t provide such as high mileage restrictions and great coverage for older vehicles. Your car can qualify for an extended car warranty if it’s 20 years old and has 225,000 miles on it.
