UPDATE: Target has just slashed another $20 on what was already an incredible Black Friday iPad deal for the 10.2-inch iPad for today only saving $100 in total.
Buy Now: 32GB 10.2-inch 2019 iPad just $229.99 at Target
It's one of the best Black Friday deals around, and now multiple retailers are discounting this year's 10.2-inch iPad. It’s not often Apple products get large price cuts, and it’s even rarer when it’s the latest model, but the new iPad 10.2-inch is now just $229.99 at Target. That’s a massive 30% saving in on what is arguably the best value tablet to buy right now.
Amazon's deal isn't quite as good, with the iPad not going below $249.99 at any point. Both Target and Amazon are selling the 128GB version by $100 and it now costs $329.99. However, we recommend the 32GB iPad 10.2-inch for $$229.99 as it's the much better deal.
The iPad range has long been the best tablets on the market. They’re slick, powerful and have the best apps for tablets by a long way. Perhaps surprisingly for Apple products, they’re also quite affordable.
The 10.2-inch iPad has a sharp and colorful Retina display and stereo speakers for improved audio performance. There's also a Touch ID fingerprint sensor for unlocking the tablet, but also for secure online payments and individual app locking, where available. It also has stellar stamina with up to 10 hours of battery life from a single charge. An 8-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls make it even more versatile. The discount applies to all three colors too – Gold, Silver and Space Gray.
This version has 32GB of onboard storage, which should be enough for most people unless you like carrying a lot of video and music with you. If that’s the case then you may need the 128GB version, but that will add to the cost. If internet-on-the-go is important to you then you can also opt for the WiFi + Cellular model, but again this raises the price.
You’ll also need a data plan to go with it which can ramp up costs. If your cell phone plan allows Wi-Fi tethering then we recommend using your smartphone to provide 4G internet to the iPad when you’re away from a solid Wi-Fi connection.
The 10.2-inch iPad is also compatible with the Apple Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, although you’ll need to buy those separately. These can ramp up the price, but there are plenty of cheaper third-party keyboard cases for around $40 that work well. Adding a keyboard to the new iPad makes it a true rival to cheap laptops that are often underpowered and come with screens that are nowhere near as good as the iPad’s.
Even though this is a new iPad it comes with a slightly older processor, the A10 Fusion. Don’t let that bother you, it’s still very very fast. Unless you’re going to be doing intensive multi-tasking or want to run the very latest 3D games at the highest settings then you won't notice it at all.
If you want to step up the power with a similar screen size you’ll need to look at the iPad Air, which costs almost twice as much at $469, or the 11-inch iPad Pro which costs $674 for a similar spec.
The 10.2-inch iPad is by far the best value iPad to buy right now. Whether you’re into watching Netflix or Apple TV+ on the go, fancy playing games via Apple Arcade or want to be more productive with Pages or Google Docs, this is a great deal. If you’re thinking of spending less than $300 on a laptop we also recommend looking at the 10.2-inch iPad instead. The experience is just so much better.
