Pros / It brews many types of hot drinks.
Cons / This coffee maker is rather big.
Verdict / While it isn’t the best choice for cramped kitchens and other small spaces, the Cuisinart SS-10 is a convenient, versatile single-cup coffee maker.
The Cuisinart SS-10 single-cup coffee maker has five cup size settings, ranging from 4 to 12 ounces. If you prefer, you can set the cup size “permanently” to get your much-desired 8-ounce cup of coffee each morning without punching buttons every time. However, you can also change the amount of hot water dispensed into the brewing filter as needed. After you select the correct size, the water heats up quickly to your choice of hot or extra hot.
What’s more, there is a hot water button that lets you make tea, hot chocolate and instant soups. And you don’t have to worry about your next cup of French roast tasting like chicken soup – the machine has a rinse feature that cleans away debris before you make the next cup. The Cuisinart SS-10’s 72-ounce water reservoir is removable, and it has a charcoal filter to improve the water’s taste.
This Cuisinart single-cup coffee maker can use a reusable filter, one of which is included, as well as standard K-cups. K-cups are conveniently pre-filled with precisely measured coffee grounds, and the reusable filter is good for people who want to brew their own, perhaps freshly ground, coffee. The reusable filter is also more environmentally friendly and can save you money. This machine has a handy storage nook on one side to hold the filter when not in use.
The Cuisinart SS-10 shuts off automatically after 30 minutes. One drawback is that it’s a bit large – with dimensions of 11.03 x 9.33 x 12.13 inches, it takes up more space on your countertop than other models. If you want a smaller machine, the Keurig K55 fits the bill nicely.
