Pros / This digital grill thermometer supports two probes, which are included with the set.

Cons / The battery compartment requires a tiny Phillips screwdriver.

Verdict / The Maverick ET-733 may not measure temperatures as fast as other digital grill thermometers, but it is accurate. Its built-in temperature presets make it easy to choose doneness levels, regardless of what you are cooking.

With the Maverick ET-733 digital grill thermometer, you can control your grill without even being behind it. This thermometer comes with two probes, two grill clips, a receiver and transmitter, which has a small display to relay the temperature of your meat. You can be 300 feet away and still feel confident your food is cooking.

Since this BBQ thermometer supports dual probes, you can simultaneously monitor food and your grill's temperature. In our tests, we used the additional probe to measure the temperature of a second steak.

With this digital grill thermometer, you can set multiple alarms to sound when they reach a low or high temperature. When your grill or meat reaches the desired temperature, it beeps. The Maverick ET-733 also has built in preset temperatures for beef, veal, lamb, pork, chicken and turkey. It even has additional settings for less-common meats like deer, elk, moose and rabbit, among others.

When we grilled four steaks – rare, medium-rare, medium and medium-well – we found the thermometer to be both accurate and consistent. Setting up the thermometer wasn't easy. You will want to read the instruction manual to learn how to navigate the wireless receiver's many menus. Even setting alarms wasn't intuitive.

This digital BBQ thermometer's response time isn't as fast as other thermometers. The probes had an average reading time of 24.5 seconds. Both probes are 7-inches long and are capable of reading temperatures ranging from 32–572 degrees Fahrenheit.

One feature we wish the manufacturer would have included with this thermometer is automatic-shutoff. Since you are juggling both a transmitter and wireless receiver, it's easy to forget to turn them off after preparing your meal.

Another complaint is that the battery compartment of the transmitter requires a tiny Phillips head screwdriver. If you don't have one and use a larger screwdriver, it is very easy to strip the screws, making it almost impossible to change the grill thermometer's batteries.

Maverick includes a one-year warranty with this digital thermometer set. The company offers telephone and email support as well. You can also read FAQs page on its website.

Summary

Overall, the Maverick ET-733 BBQ thermometer may not have all the advanced features like some of the best digital grill thermometers, but it still has convenient features like built-in temperature presets, and it even includes a second probe at no extra cost to you.
