Like other Char-Broil gas grills we tested, the Char-Broil 463446015 heats up quickly. In our tests, it reached 500 degrees Fahrenheit in an impressive two minutes and 44 seconds. But when it came to retaining heat, it didn't perform quite as impressively. It's hot enough to cook meat effectively, just not entirely evenly.

The electronic igniter lights all of the burners effortlessly, and the grill heats quickly. The trade-off is somewhat uneven cooking. It tends to overheat in the middle of the grilling area and cooks less effectively on the sides. With that said, it cooks more evenly than other Char-Broil outdoor grills we tested. The porcelain coating on the grates resists rust, but we found them harder to clean than cast-iron grates. These grates do a better job of locking in heat than the stainless steel grates of other Char-Broil grills, however.

This is a big barbecue grill with plenty of cooking space. You can fit up to 24 burgers at once on the 450-square-inch main cooking area. There is also a spacious side burner for frying up side dishes for a large group. The warming tray holds up to eight patties and is a great place to set side dishes, like corn on the cob or asparagus, as your meat cooks. It also has a side table with plenty of space for salads, condiments and your cooking tools.

You can convert this propane grill to run off your home's natural gas line. The conversion kit is sold separately, along with detailed instructions on how to set it up.

The burners are made of durable stainless steel and come with a limited 10-year warranty. The firebox, lid, cooking grates and emitters all have a two-year warranty, and all other parts are insured for a year. You can contact customer support by phone or the email contact form on the company's website. There is also a troubleshooting page on the Char-Broil website that answers many FAQs.

The Char-Broil 463446015 is a spacious grill with porcelain-coated grates that do an above-average job of locking in heat. However, like other fast-heating grills we tested, it doesn't retain heat as well or cook quite as evenly as some of the top-rated gas grills that require a little more patience. Nonetheless, this is a nice, affordable grill with plenty of cooking space that effectively cooks all types of meat for a large crowd.
