Bluetooth technology was invented in 1994, but the VXi Corporation has been designing headsets for mobile professionals like truckers and call centers since 1989. The BlueParrott division of VXi specializes in Bluetooth headsets for high-noise work places. The voice quality and noise-canceling technology is among the best available, but it lacks key hands-free features and a portable charger, which it needs to make up for the long charge time.

The Reveal proved to have exceptional voice quality in our tests, scoring an impressive 100 percent. In the voice quality tests, a caller recited poetry as we wrote down what we heard. We never once struggled to understand what the caller was saying. The voice sounds natural and crisp without any distortion or flatness. The frequency response of the 10.3 mm driver is 20Hz to 20kHz, while most Bluetooth headsets have a frequency response of 100Hz to 10kHz. This means that it can reproduce the human voice more accurately than most headsets can.

The most impressive feature of the Reveal is the noise cancellation technology, which also scored 100 percent in our noise reduction test. BlueParrott claims that it suppresses 91 percent of ambient background noise when the boom microphone is extended and 83 percent when the microphone is retracted. In each of our tests, which tested a range of background noises, the background noise was almost entirely removed from the call. This is easily the best hands-free Bluetooth headset if you work in a noisy environment.

The Reveal scored 75 percent in our stability tests, which is average. The test gauged how well a headset would stay on your ear during active movements. It's well balanced for its large size and comes with five earbuds, which gives you more options than most Bluetooth earpieces. The earbuds have concha fins, which are the primary support for the entire headset. However, it didn't score very well in our stability tests with the concha fin alone and required the optional over-ear hook for additional support.

The talk time for the Reveal is seven hours, which is among the longest available. However, the charge time is 3.5 hours, which is the longest among the Bluetooth earpieces we reviewed. The lack of a portable charging case really hurts it in comparison to the best Bluetooth headsets. With a charging case, you'd be able to keep the headset charged throughout the day when you're not using it so that you wouldn't have to worry about it dying mid-call.

The VXi BlueParrott Reveal has exceptional call quality on both ends of the call. It scored the highest marks in the voice quality and noise reduction tests. The stability is average, but it comes with all the comfort features. The recharge time is among the longest available, but so is the talk time. It's one of the best Bluetooth headsets for noisy environments like warehouses and city streets.
