PROS / This software’s intuitive layout and QuickStart menu make it easy to use.
CONS / Compared to other programs we reviewed, this software has a small plant library.
VERDICT / TurboFloorPlan has plenty of design tools and features. This home design software is comprehensive, yet easy enough for a beginner to use.
TurboFloorPlan Home and Landscape Deluxe has a lot of features and tools, as well as an interface that makes the program as easy to use as the best 3D home design software we reviewed. However, its small plant library and limited kitchen design tools hold it back.
When you first open TurboFloorPlan Deluxe, you have the option to use the QuickStart menu to begin building a custom floor plan, or you can pick one of the program’s 45 sample plans. The QuickStart menu makes building a custom home quick and simple. You can grab rooms and drop them into your floor plan. You can customize your floor plan any way you like, with the exception of adding curving walls.
This house design software is easy to use. You can use the taskbar at the top of the screen to change camera angles and switch between your 2D floor plan and a 3D model. The software creates quality floor plans and displays realistic renderings of your house. You can view your plans in 2D and 3D at the same time to ensure everything is placed where it should be.
This room design software has a substantial library of over 4,700 objects, including appliances, windows, doors and furniture for both indoors and outside. It is missing design wizards, which simplify the design process. For example, a kitchen design wizard can help you optimize space by specifying appropriate cabinet dimensions, placing electrical outlets in necessary places and planning where plumbing should be placed.
Using this software, you can create a detailed plan of your house with included interior design, plumbing and electrical components. It also has landscaping tools to shape your property’s topography and a list of plants and trees so you can landscape your yard. The floor plan software only has 1,200 plants in its library, which is fewer than most of the other software we reviewed.
IMSI offers a 15-day trial on its website so you can test the program out before purchasing it. The software has several in-application support options, including tutorial videos and a user manual. If you need to contact support, the website lists both an email address and telephone number. We found that company reps were prompt in their responses.
TurboFloorPlan 3D Home and Landscape Deluxe is an easy program to use, especially if you are a novice home designer. This software is missing some features such as the ability to create curved walls and an extensive plant library, but it is user-friendly and powerful. Even though it falls short of our top three home design software products, this program is worth owning.
