Top Ten Reviews Verdict

What the Black & Decker LB700 lacks in features it makes up for in price. You can't vacuum with this model, so if you want to suck up leaves and debris then consider a more expensive leaf blower, however if you just want to pile up leaves around your property this is a great deal.

Why you can trust Top Ten Reviews Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

We've researched the latest leaf blowers, asked the experts, and sifted through thousands of specs, features and user reviews to find the best leaf blowers around. Here's everything you need to know about the Black and Decker LB700 leaf blower.

Black & Decker LB700: What you need to know

The Black and Decker LB700 is a simple, basic leaf blower that uses corded electric power to run a 7 amp motor. It has a top blowing airspeed of 180 mph which is sufficient for light work, but not the most powerful blower we've tested by far.

One thing to be aware of is that there's no power cord supplied with the Black and Decker LB700. It has a plug receptacle for a three prong plug which will fit any extension cord you already own, but you're going to need to provide that yourself.

Black & Decker LB700: Price

We're well and truly at the budget end of the leaf blower market here. The Black and Decker LB700 has a list price of $50, but can be picked up for as little as $33 on Amazon. And if all you want to do is move leaves into piles then it's hard to argue with a price like that.

Black & Decker LB700: Features

  • Assemble it, plug it in and you're good to go
  • One feature it does boast is cord retention
Black & Decker LB700 specifications

Power source: Corded electric
Modes: Blowing only
Engine: 7 amps
Airspeed: 180 mph
Operation volume: 86 db
Dimensions: 16.5 x 11 x 7 in
Weight: 4.7 pounds
Warranty: 2 years

The Black and Decker LB700 is easy to use, but that's because there's an almost complete lack of features. The only button you need to worry about is the off and on button. You simply assemble it, plug it in and you're good to go.

One feature it does boast is cord retention, which means you're not going to unplug it by venturing too far. You'll feel a slight tug that means you need to back up a bit, rather than the plug being pulled out.

Black & Decker LB700: Performance

  • It will move leaves around without a problem
  • There are no speed settings here

When it comes to performance, 180 mph is enough for most people. It will move leaves around without a problem and the cord retention feature means you shouldn't get nasty surprises with it cutting out if you wander too far.

There are no speed settings here, so you don't have control over how hard the LB700 will blow. The good news however is that while it's powerful enough to blow leaves a fair distance, it isn't powerful enough to knock you over and is very light to carry at just 4.7 pounds.  Most people should be able to operate the Black and Decker LB700 with one hand.

At 86 decibels it's not particularly quiet, so you might want to consider ear protection if you're using it for prolonged periods.

Black & Decker LB700: User reviews

  • Users complain that they were expecting a power cord in the box
  • People seem to love the light weight and easy operation of the LB700

The fact that there's no power cord supplied with the Black and Decker LB700 doesn't appear to be very well advertised, so a lot of users complain that they were expecting a power cord in the box. Despite that, the LB700 has achieved a healthy 4.7 out of 5 stars on Amazon customer reviews which is a testament to how reliable and easy to use it is.

People seem to love the light weight and easy operation of the LB700, but most of all its price. While some question the amount of power it can produce, most people seem very happy with its capabilities for moving leaves around.

Should I buy the Black & Decker LB700?

The Black and Decker LB700 is especially popular with older people because of its light weight and ease of use.

This is a basic, no frills product, but it has proved to be reliable and does exactly what you'd expect it to. If you're simply looking for a leaf blower to tidy up your property it's hard to beat it on price and performance. Just be aware that you'll need to provide your own power cord and you're good to go.
