Max noise: 56 dBs

Max power use: 61 Watts

Energy Star Certified: Yes

The Blue Pure 211+ features a unique HEPASilent™ filtration system, which means this purifier can maintain a powerful performance while consuming less energy. The combination of electrostatic and mechanical filtration also allows for a quieter performance.

The Blue Pure 211+ comes with an optional, customizable fabric pre-filter sleeve to help trap larger particles and extend the life of the air purifier’s filter. It also includes an activated carbon filter to absorb volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from household chemicals, such as cleaning products or adhesives. Activated carbon filters can also help to eliminate odors from tobacco, cooking or smelly pet odors.

Boasting a 360-degree air intake, the Blue Pure 211+ can be placed in the middle or at the edge of any space without losing power or performance. A six-foot cord is supplied, allowing enough leeway for most socket.

Blue Pure 211+: Setup and usability

The manual that comes with the Blue Pure 211+ is easy to understand and features plenty of helpful pictures to help with setting-up and operating your new purchase.

Setting up the air purifier is pretty straightforward. Remove the top of the unit by pressing the two release buttons on either side, and fit the filter sleeve. The HEPA filter is already in place.

Two fabric sleeves of different colors (blue and black) are provided with the air purifier, so you can switch them as you wish to blend in with your home decor. Other colors are available to buy separately, and of course you can choose not to use the fabric sleeve if you prefer a clean, white look.

Replace the top of the unit before plugging in and powering on. A large touch-sensitive power button at the front of the purifier turns it on, while also allowing you to select your preferred setting.

There are three settings to choose from. The lowest setting is also the most energy-efficient, operating at around 38 decibels. This is around the same noise level as a quiet library. The middle setting is 49 decibels, which is similar to the sound of rainfall, while the loudest and most powerful setting is 56 decibels, roughly the same level as background music.

The Blue Pure 211+ also comes loaded with eco-credentials. It is energy star certified, top-rated by Consumer Reports, and AHAM-verified for performance and Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR).

Able to service spaces of up to 540 square feet, the Blue Pure 211+ is ideal for homes with larger rooms and office spaces.

Blue Pure 211+: Design

  • Height: 21 in
  • Depth: 13 in
  • Width: 13 in

At 15.5 lbs, the Blue Pure 211+ is the heaviest and bulkiest air purifier we tested at home. It’s not the easiest air purifier to lug around the house, so it may be best for users who want a sturdy air purifier that can sit in one place.

However, it’s not without style. An attractive stencil cut-out at the top of the unit adds a touch of flair to this work horse of a machine, while the customizable fabric sleeves can be selected to your taste and home decor.

The unit has a clean and stylish finish, despite its bulk. Leaving the fabric sleeve off reveals the mesh base, which is perfectly acceptable in appearance, although it may get dusty over time.

We tested the Blue Pure 211+  at home, over three trials of 30 minutes, using an air particle counter before, during, and after testing. All tests took place in a sealed room measuring 323 square feet.

Our first trial tested the Blue Pure 211+’s ability to tackle ambient air quality. After running the purifier for just 30 minutes at a setting lower than 50 decibels (setting 2), we found that it absorbed 93% of particles smaller than 0.3 microns and 88% of particles smaller than 2.5 microns. At its highest setting, it absorbed an impressive 99.9% of particles smaller than 0.3 microns and 100% of particles smaller than 2.5 microns. We also found it absorbed 100% of particles measuring smaller than 10 microns.

Next up, we evaluated how well the Blue Pure 211+ dealt with incense smoke. At level 2 and 3, it absorbed an impressive 99% of particles smaller than 2.5 microns and almost 100% of particles measuring smaller than 10 microns.

Lastly, we tested how well the purifier absorbed particles released by burning matches. At  level 2, the purifier eliminated 99.7% of particles smaller than 0.3 microns, 99.5% of particles smaller than 2.5 microns, and 100% of particles measuring smaller than 10 microns. At level 3, this increased to 99.9% of particles smaller than 0.3 microns, 99.6% of particles smaller than 2.5 microns, and 100% of particles measuring smaller than 10 microns.

Having evaluated several air purifiers at home, using exactly the same tests, we can confidently say that the Blue Pure 211+ is one of the most powerful and effective air purifier we tested. It out-performed most other purifiers, including the much more expensive Dyson Purifier Cool.

  • 1-year extendable warranty (up to 5 years)

Blue Pure 211+: User reviews

Users tend to rave about the Blue Pure 211+. It scores an impressive 4.8 out of 5 stars on Home Depot, with hundreds of 5-star reviews from happy customers. The Blueair.com website tells a similar story, with hundreds of 5-star reviews and an overall score of 4.7 stars. With over 10,000 reviews on Amazon.com, a whopping 82% of users give it the full 5 stars.

Positive reviewers enjoy the performance of the Blue Pure 211+. They say it improves sleep, eases the symptoms of allergies, and leaves their home air feeling clean and fresh. They also praise the fact that it’s energy-saving and quiet at its lowest setting.

The few negative reviews tend to cite problems with individual devices. However, some people say the replacement filters are too expensive, at around $69.99, which potential buyers will need to factor into the overall cost. Plus, some people find the highest setting too noisy for their home.

Should you buy the Blue Pure 211+?

While the Blue Pure 211+ may be lacking in Smart functionality, it certainly delivers on performance. If you’re looking for something sturdy and powerful, but energy efficient, it could be the right purifier for your family home.

It’s not cheap, at $299.99. And its bulk and left may put some buyers off. However, when it comes to results, it surpasses most of the air purifiers we’ve tested so far, so you get good value for your money.

If this product isn’t for you

If you’re after an air purifier that has a similar performance level in a lower price bracket, the Levoit Core 400S is almost $100 cheaper and performed well in our at-home tests.

If you want an air purifier with the wow factor and money is no object, then check out the Dyson Purifier Cool. Sleek and stylish, it’s certain to be a talking point in any home.

For people with limited space and budget, the KOIOS EP1810 may be the perfect fit. Small  enough for a desktop or shelf, it’s light enough to take with you on business trips and vacations.
