The Homelite electric trimmer (model number UT41110) has plenty of speed and sufficient power to chop through the grass and weeds in your yard. This electric string trimmer converts to an edger by simply rotating the shaft. One downside to this electric weed whacker is that it doesn't lengthen more than 3.25 feet.
This electric weed trimmer from Homelite makes 9,000 rotations per minute (RPMs), which is speedy compared to the other trimmers we reviewed. The power of this trimmer measures 4 amperes (amps). This is a little lower than some of the other electric string trimmers we reviewed, but coupled with the high amount of RPMs, you'll still have a lot of strength to cut through your basic weed- and grass-trimming lawn tasks.
This Homelite electric trimmer is 5.2 pounds. It comes with a factory-wound spool of line that Homelite has already installed in the trimmer. The electric weed trimmer has two handles.
The Homelite electric trimmers come with a standard 0.065-inch single line that rotates to make a 13-inch cutting diameter. The line auto feeds from the head. If you're used to using a Bump and Feed head, be careful to not accidentally tap the head of this electric string trimmer on the ground because it can crack the casing and ruin the advancing mechanism.
The last thing you want when you're trimming is to accidentally cut things you wanted to preserve. You want to show off the daisies, not behead them. That's why it's nice to have an edge guard, which comes standard with this Homelite electric trimmer. One thing it doesn't come with that we wish it did is a safety switch. Not many electric string trimmers have this feature, but it's a nice one to have.
The pole on this electric weed trimmer adjusts to better fit your height. It can compact down to 36 inches and lengthen out 39 inches, which is 3 and 3.25 feet respectively. Although you can lengthen the pole, it's not by much, especially when you consider that most of the electric string trimmers we reviewed are at least 3.5 feet at their shortest. In addition to lengthening the pole on the Homelite electric trimmers, you can also rotate it. By doing this, it converts the trimmer into an edger.
You'll need a Phillips Screwdriver to assemble the grass deflector. The manual illustrates the process of attaching the deflector. The manual also has pictures of how to wind the spool and attach the spool retainer.
Homelite has a telephone number you can contact for customer support. When we called, we experienced a long hold time. Once a representative answered and asked us our question, they placed us on hold two more times before they were able to answer our question. The company's website doesn't have any FAQs, but it does have a manual, a getting-started guide and a replacement-parts list. These Homelite electric trimmers come with a two-year warranty that covers product defects.
These Homelite electric trimmers (model number UT41110) have speed and enough power to trim through light lawn jobs such as edging your lawn, trimming long grass and weeds and sweeping up the mess into a tidy pile. The shaft on this electric string trimmer doesn't expand much compared to other trimmers we reviewed. However, it has a large cutting diameter and is a lightweight machine.
