The YOO.MEE high-pressure handheld shower head may not be much to look at, but it could be a great product for you if your shower suffers from lower water pressure. Its appearance is indicative of its low price, so it might not look as at home in your super fancy bathroom renovation as another handheld shower head, but it isn’t ugly, just basic. The YOO.MEE hand shower comes in a chrome finish with a plastic spray face.
Testers liked this hand shower’s water pressure, which is a point YOO.MEE also stresses about its product. The manufacturer uses 2XP Turbo charging (though what that is isn’t fully explained) to amp up the water power. Whatever it is, it seems to work. The shower head has three settings: normal, massage and combination. The pressure across all of them is powerful. One tester found this shower head a bit too powerful – almost stinging – but this can be controlled by turning down your water, which is nice for water conservation, since the YOO.MEE doesn’t have a WaterSense option or water-saving feature. If you’re looking to save the planet (or live in an area where WaterSense certification is required), we’d recommend the Waterpik PowerSpray+ Twin Turbo for high pressure lovers and the Speakman Rio if all of this water pressure sounds a little too intense for you.
The showerhead comes with an optional flow regulator as well, which we found a little odd. We couldn’t find anywhere that YOO.MEE advertised this product’s maximum flow rate, which has to be 2.5 gpm (gallons per minute) or less to fit with U.S. regulations. We were a bit suspicious of this, but in our tests, which we performed with a water source with a pressure of 48 psi (pounds per square inch), the YOO.MEE tested as having an actual flow rate of 1.8 gpm. This was on the higher end of our tested results, but not the highest.
Everything you need for installation comes packaged with this product, including the shower head itself, a lengthy flexible metal hose, bracket, instructions, a flow regulator, thread-seal tape and extra gaskets in case you misplace two. Installation is very easy. The included hose was one of the longer ones provided with products we tested. It’s good for maneuverability.
One problem with the YOO.MEE is that it is light and made of plastic, so that sometimes, when it’s pumping out a lot of pressure, it can move in its bracket. Otherwise, it’s a good shower head, if more basic than others. YOO.MEE offers a one-year warranty on the hand shower, which is stingy compared to most other products’ lifetime warranties.
