The Tacklife SC-L01 is one of the best laser line levels we reviewed. It has a lengthy projection range of 50 feet, all the leveling features we look for in this category and is accurate up to 1/9th of an inch. However, the short 12-hour battery life and lack of mounting options kept it from being our top choice.
In our testing, the Tacklife SC-L01 performed excellently. It’s accurate to within 1/9th of an inch at 30 feet, projects a highly visible line even at its maximum range, and has an auto-leveling feature that works within four degrees. If this device is placed outside four degrees of level, the beam will blink until it’s brought into range. As long as you see a solid red cross on the wall, you’ll know that you’re both level and accurate.
Mounting this laser line level is quite easy. On the bottom, you’ll find a thread that attaches the device to the most common tripods. Additionally, it comes with a strong magnetic mount that clings to metal surfaces. While these options are good, they only go so far. Some laser line levels also include clamp, suction-cup and adhesive mounts. One or more of these options would greatly increase the versatility of this tool.
This device projects a laser line up to 50 feet away, although you can only really count on it being reliable to about 30 feet. The farther away you get from that distance, the more diffuse and blurry the laser becomes. This is common among the laser line levels in our comparison, but is still worth noting.
You can pick up this laser line level for under $50 – a good price considering that other products that scored highly can cost up to $100. And while this tool didn’t end up being our best value pick, it’s still delivers great value.
The warranty period for this laser line level is two years – average among the laser line levels we tested. There are a few brands such as DeWALT, HAMMERHEAD and Johnson that have three-year warranties, but it shouldn’t be anything that keeps you from buying this model.
The Tacklife SC-L01 simply works well. It’s accurate and durable, and has most of the features we look for in this category. It loses some points for short battery life and limited mounting options, but on the whole, there’s not much to complain about.
