We weren't able to test each water heater in our guide ourselves, however, we've compared multiple models, read through hundreds of reader reviews, and found out all the important information you could need before you buy a new water heater. Read on to find out if the Westinghouse Lifetime Electric Water Heater is for you.

Westinghouse Lifetime Electric Water Heater: What you need to know

The Westinghouse Lifetime Electric Water Heater is a huge 80-gallon water heater that benefits from a fantastic warranty, energy efficient features and has a stainless steel tank making it much lighter.

It is the only water heater we reviewed that doesn't need anode rods. This is definitely one of its strengths as anode rods are often what erode inside water heaters and can cause costly repairs down the line.

Westinghouse Lifetime Electric Water Heater: Design & features

This water heater has 98% thermal efficiency and has been built to minimize corrosion, meaning your water heater will last longer. A clever design means the normal need for anode rods, which help to delay tank erosion, are not needed in this water heater. Instead, the tank is made of stainless steel which means it prevents scale build up inside the tank - all things that would have cost money to fix down the line.

When you’re not using hot water, the Westinghouse Electric Water Heater has a low standby loss of 0.57% per hour. And that’s not the only feature that aims to save energy and money either! This water heater minimizes the mixing of hot and cold water so that you can have a good deal of hot water quickly.

The Westinghouse Electric Water Heater might boast a huge tank, but it doesn't come cheap. This model is not normally available for under $1,000 so you need to be sure it's right for you before splashing out.

Of course, with a tank this size, it's also worth thinking about how much space this water heater will take up in your home.

Westinghouse Lifetime Electric Water Heater: User reviews

User reviews often comment on how well the Westinghouse Electric Water Heater is made, with many saying parts felt expensive and that they were all made of brass, rather than plastic. Many also commented on how easy the water heater was to install, although a few mentioned it wasn’t a job for a novice. A few reviews did mention that the tank really is very tall and quite large.

Should you buy the Westinghouse Lifetime Electric Water Heater?

If you want a water heater with a huge tank, then this is the one for you. The price tag is enough to put many off, with it being over $1,000 however, with a lifetime warranty included in the price tag, it’s a good investment.
