The Vizio M421VT internet TV allows you to watch TV while you spend time on Facebook. The screen is standard HDTV and has a fast refresh rate. The Vizio M421VT comes with a QWERTY slide-out keyboard remote to make navigating the internet a breeze. It comes with half a dozen apps and access to an app store.
The built-in Wi-Fi feature and Ethernet port make it easy to quickly hook up your internet connection to this internet-ready TV. The Vizio Razor M421VT comes with six apps: Netflix, Vudu, Pandora, Facebook, Yahoo News and Web Videos. You can download 30 more through Vizio's app store. It's not necessary to have an internet connection to watch TV; however, it is necessary to have that connection if you want to use the internet apps.
The Vizio M421VT has a 42-inch screen and a standard resolution of 1920x1080p. Its refresh rate is 120 Hz, which is plenty fast. The response rate is five milliseconds, which is a little slower than other smart TVs we reviewed, but it's still fast enough that you won't notice any ghosting of your images.
This LED TV from Vizio has a lower dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) than many of the internet-connected TVs we reviewed – 1,000,000:1. The DCR determines how dark and bright the screen can become. This unit's lower DCR means that the black colors on your screen won't be as rich as they would on a screen with a higher DCR. The viewing angle for this razor LED TV is 178 degrees, so you can sit almost anywhere in the room and have a great view of the screen.
This Vizio Razor LED TV only uses 92 watts of power on average and meets Energy Star qualifications. The Vizio M421VT comes with two 10-watt speakers. This smart TV has a shared composite/component input, four HDMI inputs, two USB ports, one PC input, one Ethernet port and a digital audio output.
A standout feature on the Vizio M421VT is the parental controls. Most of the internet-connected TVs we reviewed only have controls for your TV programming; however, this smart TV allows you to set some controls over your apps in addition to filtering TV programming according to FCC ratings.
You can do two things at once with this internet-ready TV, which is a feature we didn't see much in the internet connected TVs we reviewed. Some of the apps will let you watch TV while you use them. Facebook is one of these apps. Not all of the apps allow you to multitask in this way; you can't use Netflix to watch a movie while you watch TV, but that just makes sense.
You can receive email, telephone and live chat support for this smart TV on Vizio's website. You can also check out the FAQs page if you prefer. The Vizio M421VT comes with a one-year limited warranty and free lifetime tech support.
