Pros / It has the most powerful motor on our lineup.

Cons / It runs louder than most other slicers we reviewed.

Verdict / This is a powerful unit that does a decent job slicing all food types.

The Knox KN-SSMS meat slicer has a powerful motor that can slice any food for a party or other occasion. It has a smooth-edged blade that creates even cuts of your favorite meat or vegetable, and it is easy to clean so it never feels like a chore. The many built-in safety features also take the worry out of working with a large, sharp blade.

No matter what kind of food you want to slice, this slicer handles it well. The blade struggled slightly to begin slicing the artisan bread we tested it with, but it ended up producing an even slice. The device has a 200-watt motor, which is one reason why it works so well.

The blade is made of stainless steel and measures 7.5 inches in diameter. You can adjust the thickness for each slice, either by eye or by moving the thickness control knob behind the carriage area. The knob lets you create super-thin slices or ones up to half an inch thick.

This consumer-grade meat slicer is easy to store, as it is one of the smaller units in our lineup, measuring 15 x 9.8 x 11.8 inches. It weighs just 10 pounds, which we found to be a good balance between being easy enough to move and just heavy enough to provide great countertop stability.

The blade is easy to remove and clean, taking only seconds to disengage. Though the carriage is permanently mounted to a bar, you can tilt it up to clean it and the area under it. The food pusher is also easy to clean and maneuver, and it doubles as protection between your hand and the blade. It has small spikes that help grip and push the food so it never slides on the blade.

It has a recessed power switch, preventing you from accidentally turning it on. When it is on, it emits 67 dB of sound, making it one of the louder units we featured. The unit did not ever move around on the countertop while we used it, thanks to its suction-cup feet, and it feels very safe to use overall.

Though this food slicer works well, Knox doesn't offer much in the way of customer service compared to the other slicers' manufacturers. You can contact the company via email, but it does not have a FAQs section, an online product manual or any warranty information.

The Knox KN-SSMS is a great slicer for the price, and it has an unbeatably powerful motor. The blade can process any food type fairly easily and is easy to clean. It felt safe to use and didn't move around on the counter during testing. Though it doesn't offer as many customer service options as the other slicers do, it is still a great, easy-to-use slicer.
