Verdict / Paperless Post is a good photo card service; the website that is easy to navigate and has plenty of options so you can find and create the card you want.
Paperless Post is a photo card service with above average card and design quality, a good holiday template selection and some nice convenience features that make searching the website easy. Unfortunately, there are no custom design services, so if you have a specific design in mind and want to create your own card from scratch, you’ll have to find a different service.
The website is easy to navigate, with many filters to help you narrow your search and quickly find the card design you want. You can search several categories all at once (like Christmas photo cards, holiday photo cards and Christmas party invitations), or search one category at a time. Many of the template designs on the website seemed a little dated, but there are enough templates to accommodate most people’s tastes.
There are no custom design tools, however, which would allow you to create a new design from scratch or seriously alter existing templates. So, if you have a specific design in mind you may need a different card maker service. You can choose from three types of paper, stationary cardstock, and matte or glossy photo paper. The cardstock options are pricier than the photo paper, but they are higher quality. The photo paper, on the other hand, provides a more affordable way to buy cards in bulk.
Paperless Post lets you order one card at a time, which can be a nice way of confirming whether the design you selected is the one you really want before ordering in bulk. Paperless Post also ships individual test cards free of tax or shipping costs. While other services charge shipping for individual cards, Paperless Post charges more than average per card. We ordered two cards on cardstock as part of our photo card testing. It took five business days for the cards to arrive, which was about average.
The testers were generally impressed with the quality of the cards, which got high scores for paper quality. While the photo quality wasn’t bad overall, some complained that it was a little grainy. One tester criticized the layout and look of a card that grouped the collage of photos on one side, while a rather dated Christmas message occupied the other half. Another template would probably have worked better with our photos, which does emphasize the fact that picking the right template design is an important factor with this service.
